year, make and model, please?

The nylon gear inside the antenna mast is stripped and will not operate the mast. Or, the motor that raises and lowers is toast. Or, both.

The likely culprits are a detached power wire (to the antenna motor) or the motor itself is shot. The way this type of antenna works is that there is a stiff, yet flexible cable inside the aluminum antenna that is extended and retracted by a motor in the base of the antennae. I'd like to know if you have recently had a new stereo installed, or work done to the electrical system itself...the power wire to the motor may have not been connected, or it has been cut, or the stereo itself is not functioning properly. Also, the expansion and contraction of the lead may have caused the power lead to break. ehhh... fuses...perhaps. but one must question as to WHY the fuses blew, and remedy that issue.

Check fuses, or wiring at motor.
