I would suggest taking out the jewelry & letting it heal, then getting it done with a needle. Cartilage and piercing guns are a BAD combination.

If you paid to have it done, then I'd go ask for your money back. As people have already made it clear, piercing guns= bad news.
Piercing needles are always brand new and sterile. Piercing guns are used over and over...and over again. And while they say they clean them, I can almost guarantee you that theyre still packed full of bacteria, which is probably why your ear hurts so bad.
I have both my tragus pierced and they didnt hurt when i smiled or talked, so thats really weird. You should take them out, let them heal up, then go to a reputable piercing place and have them done again, with a needle. Of course since you've already had them pierced once, its probably going to hurt more the second time. The most it should be is a tender, maybe a little bit sore, after you've had it pierced, but what youre describing sounds bad. It could very easily lead into infection (if it's not already infected). Take them out, let them heal, and dont let anyone else come near you with a piercing gun.

Oh man. Piercing guns are the worst choice you could have made. Is the jewelry an earring with a backing? If so you should probably take it out. Professinal piercers use either a ring or a bar b/c this allows for swelling. There is not enough room for swelling with an earring and this causes a lot of pain. Be careful about taking it out though, as the hole will be more susceptible to infection (if it is infected, removing the earring will allow the skin to close and scab, trapping the infection inside. so leave it in if its really infected and see a doctor). Doesn't sound like you've got an infection yet, but keep an eye out for pus, redness or extreme pain. It woulndn't be a bad idea to have it looked at by a professional piercer. In the future, never use a piercing gun ever! They can never be fully serilized b/c plastic can't be autoclaved, and aren't sharp enough to make a proper hole. You need to have it done with a needle. Its better for you and there is less pain and a smaller risk for infection or complication. Go to a reputable piercing parlor. They will use clean equipment and have an autoclave on site to sterilize everything properly. Also, be careful not to use neosporin or alcohol on your piercing. Alcohol scars the raw tissue trying to heal and makes it worse. neosporin will make your skin think it needs to heal itself and therefore try to reject the jewelry. Use a weak saline solution to clean it. (Not table salt; your piercer should have provided you with clean salt) Best of luck!

For starters doing this piercing with a gun was a horrible idea. Some soreness is common with new piercings, as well as swelling. But the swelling should go down after a week or two and the area should be be excessively painful much longer than that.

To make a long story very short:
I STRONGLY advise you to talk with a professional piercer, get some high quality and well fitting jewelry in there and get some good aftercare instructions from them because NO ONE who uses a piercing gun knows a thing about proper aftercare. Furthermore, do not EVER get a piercing done with a gun again.

I can't believe someone would pierce your tragus with a gun!!! Big no no!
Getting anything pierced with a gun a total mistake....even your ear lobe. A gun pierces the area with such a force that it bruises the surrounding area, causing it to be very painful, and it takes the piercing longer to heal.
The reason it takes longer to heal is because the body is not only dealing with an injury, (the new hole), it is now dealing with having to heal the damage done around the area, because of the forceful pressure put on it from the gun.
As much as you may not want to do it, take the piercing out! Let it heal completely. If you don't you might risk infection and then you will diffidently have to get it out, and also go on antibiotics.
Once it heals completely, go to a professional, who will use a needle, and get it re-pierced.
Good luck to you

Oh god, you got a tragus done with a gun?! That should be illegal.

If you take it out it might form an abcess (sp?) which is not good, all the pus will be trapped.

Try the body modification and piercing forums (I forget the URL) but they can give you better advice than most people here can.

Piercing guns are BAD.. you should have gone to a pro... what were you thinking?! Did you not do any research?

Yikes. Try salt water soaks to clean it/soothe it. Maybe you should just take it out but keep the salt water soaks up. If it gets worse or spreads, SEE A DOCTOR.

i did that when i was 15 or 16. mine was pierced by a gun too. i didn't know the risks involved at that time.. it was only a few years later that i realised the danger of doing that. ya i was lucky nothing happened. anyway, it shouldn't be hurting too much. i remembered there was some discomfort for a week or two but wasn't that bad.. maybe you should leave it for a while and clean the area with an alcohol solution. drip some solution onto a cotton pad and squeeze a drop right onto the pierced area. do that for about 2 to 3 weeks. it helps to prevent infection. but if its really bothering you, take it out then.

ummm..i was planning to get one done myself too. haven't yet though..but since it's swelling up, i'd recommend taking the piercing out as soon as possible and just wait for it to close up comepletely. I think the pain that u get when u talk is probably because ears, nose and mouth is connect together. Last time, when I had a really bad fever, my neck was swelled up - I looked like I had two huge lumps on both sides of my neck which made it even more difficult for me to breath or swallow anything. At the same time, my ears hurt so~ bad...I can't tell u how much. My doc told me that it's because they're connected though. Oh when I got my ear done(upper side-soft bone) in the past...it swelled up bad. I took it out right away and waited for it to close. My sister however left hers. Then she had a keloid side effect and she had to have a surgery (cosmetic) to remove it.

you need to take it out and let it heal up because a gun will not work for that type of cartilage. Let it heal well and go back and redo it with a needle. The gun isn't thick enough to actually remove a plug of cartilage which you need. The gun has just stretched your cartilage and it will constantly try to close itself and will always hurt.

p.s. swelling after this long means it's infected. take it out. better safe than sorry.
