I think that you should wear the wedding dress. My husband and I were married at the court house 10 years ago. My husband wore a suit and I wore a wedding dress. All of the cops in the front of the court house blew their horns in our honor and some of the court house staff asked if they could watch us get married (we said yes)!!! The judge said that it was nice to see two people care enough about marriage and each other to get dressed up. These memories are something we will always treasure. We could have spent thousands of dollars and I dont think it would have been as special. We then took our families out to eat at a local place. Good luck and blessing to you on your special day!!!!!

hi...i'm only 20 but i got married at the court house by a judge at 18,it was our choice, it wasn't a $$ issue we just didn't want to spend alot of $ on something like that when we would only be doing it once...what we did was went to the court house and then about a month later had our reception...I guess you could wear a wedding dress if you wanted to,I just wore some khakis and a nice shirt...but right before the reception i wore my dress that my best friend gave me because we were planning on having a big wedding at first but then no one could decide when they could come or something like that...so the way i see it the vows are all still the same,so wear that beautiful dress if it's always been your dream!!!

Wear the wedding dress, it's your day. The judges are very sensitive to the fact that many types of people come through their doors, and will take the wedding very seriously.
My husband and I were married by a judge, he sat down with us, went through the vows. We spent more time with him in his office than in his chambers.
We then went out after with our "wedding party".
It's your day, it's all about the bride, wear the dress well!

You probably need to find out from your local court house. I used to work close to a court house and I've witnessed a few weddings like this and i have never seen anyone wear a white dress if they are getting married by the judge. I'm sure you can ask,it wouldn't be a problem.
Good luck with your wedding

Suure you can wear a wedding dress. It might be best to ask the judge to come to your house to marry you because wearing that dress in the City Hall may be out of place.
Or if the weather allows, you can get married in a nice park setting.
Good luck

I was married by a Justice of the Peace. I didn't have a wedding gown and I didn't want one, but I see no problem whatever with wearing one if you want to. I know other women that have worn them in that situation. I assume the groom is wearing a tux.
You should wear what you want to wear. This is your day. Enjoy every minute of it.

My brother and now sister-in-law could not afford a big church wedding nd she wore a gorgeous wedding gown, had her done, and he wore a tux. Then we all went to a nice park and took pictures. You'd never kow they were married at the J.O.P in a town with a population of about 200. Its YOUR big day! Don't let moey...or other people's opinions....take it away from you! Congratulations & Best Wishes!

We were married by a judge at the courthouse and had a small dinner reception afterwards. I wore a big fancy gown. I saw two other brides that day that were also in fancy dresses. It's your day, do exactly what you want!

If you want to wear a wedding dress then you should. I didn't even have the money for one when I got married 6 years ago. Good luck honey and congratulations!
