The laws of thermodynamics are one physics subject a mechanical engineer works with. That is what makes air conditioners work. Included in this is thermal resistivity. How much energy would it take to heat or cool a building given the outside air temperature and the activity in the building.

Another would be fluid dynamics. An engineer would have to determine the size of duct work to deliver a given amount of air to a building. Included in those calculations would be the speed of the air within and exiting the ducts.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Many agencies will in hassle-free terms hire human beings in the event that they explicitly have an engineering degree--that's a lot greater durable to get a job as a physics considerable. in case you like physics, besides the incontrovertible fact that, and you double considerable such as you suggested, then you definately'll have the degree and you will nevertheless get to do your physics, the place you may desire to then flow to graduate college for physics once you could arise with the money for it. this might seem very sturdy on a resume and that i assure you may get basically approximately any job you needed (or a minimum of it does no longer be declined by way of fact of your resume..while you're socially awkward then you definately could be s.o.l. the two way). anyhow, there is basically approximately constantly an inherent pay advance for people who've 'engineer' related to their call ,so in case you like engineering and physics, i might do the two.

Any thermodynamic topic, such as nuclear engineering, can involve alot of physics

I talked to a researcher at NRC recently, his degree in PhD mech eng, relating to radiation heat transfer

his work mostly concerns heat transfer through carbon, which involves physics and statistics
