Make sure that you take her to a reliable groomer with a good rep and ask the groomer if you can stay and comfort your dog and if you do have to muzzle her make sure it is soft and the correct size most groomers will have them available just let them know I had a husky who had never been and she was nervous and they let me stay with her the whole time and I asked them not to use the hair dryer on her because of the noise. Start slow.

Yes, it is absolutely OK to muzzle your dog while being groomed. I used to work for our vet and I have seen the groomer bit really bad by a dog that wasn't muzzled. Not all dogs need to be but sometimes an old nervous dog should be. The grooming will also go much faster with the do muzzled and that will be less stressful on the dog.

Some groomers will use a muzzle for their protection. If you dog is really getting old I don' think I would be taken her to a groomer since she has never been there before. She is use to you given her a bath I would keep doing that.. If that stresses her to much you can get what they call dry shampoo. it comes in powder form that you can towel dry and comb out or a foam. Or you can just wipe her with doggie wipes. When it comes to an older dog I hate to see stress on them by dong something new .

Muzzles are not to any extent further acceptable for grooming canines at any age. A canines who's already in a annoying subject may have respiration themes, or drop useless from a heart attack, aggravated by the presence of a muzzle for an prolonged era of time. i'd flat walk out of ANY save that thinks it really is o.k. to muzzle canines throughout a groom. i'd absolutely pick to charm to close what that groomer would do in the journey that they muzzled a canines and it dropped useless on the table. What would you're saying to the puppy discern once you believe you studied as them to inform them you killed their canines? A senior canines is a lot extra susceptible to rigidity and worked respiration, heart themes, and different wellbeing situations, so a muzzle is out of the question. a functional salon would have a nil tolerance coverage about this, and a functional groomer would follow it one hundred%. you need to be very careful about the position that thinks it really is o.k. to muzzle your canines. you could in effortless words sue them for the acquisition cost of your canines in the journey that they kill it, and your loss is sadly worth a lot more suitable than what you receives. in order that that you comprehend thoroughly, PetSmart has a coverage that a canines can in effortless words be muzzled for a optimal of 20 minutes. there are certain respiration challenged breeds that can not ever be muzzled. canines over 10 years of age can not be muzzled for any reason. I advise you get your canines's nails trimmed on the vet, the position they could sedate first. ETA: "drug my canines up" And at the same time as did I advise that? in case you've been extra experienced with canines possession you would comprehend that vets do this for all time for his or her customers, to diminish the strain of an animal. an gruesome journey will very last a lot longer than a moderate sedation. in case you do not pick to take my be conscious for it, call your vet and ask. Or pass ahead and proceed to muzzle your undesirable canines, so the adventure maintains to be annoying and frightening. it really is extra cruel, i ask your self?

Yes...Introduce your dog to the muzzle prior to her visit to the groomer. It needn't be a big ugly steel muzzle but something more delicate.
Speak to the groomer, though. Many have their own muzzles to use, or can determine the dog's intention to nip.
If it is a good and professional groomer, they will be able to put your mind at ease, and care for the dog without causing duress.

A lot of groomers use muzzles on unfamiliar dogs, after they are known they don't use them unless absolutely necessary. Visit some groomers, check out how they handle our little critters. Find one YOU'RE comfortable with. Your dog will pick up on it if you're nervous! Good luck!

since she is older and has never been to the groomer don't start taking her now. it could stress her to the point that something happens to her. if you are having problems with her biting you do what you asked about at home.

Yes, it is okay to muzzle your dog for the groomers. But perhaps with her stress level, your Vet could recommend a calmer. Is she a big dog? Why is she going now??? I have used gravol or benadryl for stressful situations for my dogs. but check with your vet first.

In my opinion, it's ok to muzzle my husband after I have been to the groomer, so he doesn't comment on the money I spent. *Laugh*
Seriously though, a good groomer will know how to work around your doggy, and be able to clean her without the muzzle. Ring a couple and ask the question...
Good luck
