Many people today understand the church as a building. This is not the Biblical understanding of the church. The word church comes from the Greek word "Ecclesia" which is defined as "an assembly,” or “called out ones.” The root meaning of “church” is not that of a building, but of people. It is ironic that when you ask people what church they attend they usually say Baptist, Methodist, or another denomination. Many times they are referring to a denomination or a building. Read Romans 16:5: "…also greet the church that is in their house..." Paul refers to the church in their house, not a church building, but a body of believers.
The church is the Body of Christ. Ephesians 1:22-23 says, "And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all." The Body of Christ is made up of all believers from the time of Pentecost until the Rapture. The Body of Christ is comprised of two aspects:
(1) The universal church is the church that consists of all those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:13 says, "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many." We see that anyone who believes is part of the body of Christ. The true church of God is not any particular church building or denomination. The universal church of God is all those who have received salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
(2) The local church is described in Galatians 1:1-2, "Paul, an apostle…and all the brethren who are with me, to the churches of Galatia." Here we see that in the province of Galatia there were many churches - what we call a local church. A Baptist church, Lutheran church, Catholic church, etc. is not THE church, as in the universal church – but rather is a local church. The universal church is comprised of those who have trusted in Christ for salvation. These members of the universal church should seek fellowship and edification in a local church.
In summary, the church is not a building, or a denomination. According to the Bible, the church is the Body of Christ - all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation (John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 12:13). There are members of the universal church (the Body of Christ) in local churches.

buff: There is no such thing as the "true church" apart from the body of Jesus Christ. If anyone tells you that they have the only corner on the market - the truth - the true church, this is the big indicator for a cult and mind-control. The true churches would be more correct. God does not make claim to any one denomination. No one church or denomination can lay claim to having ALL the answers or all of the truth about God or the Bible for that matter. Beware of false religions and cults - they all preach allegiance to a set of rules [legalism] or a man. You will see more and more of this type of thing as the close of this age we live in continues to unravel . Some will actually say that Jesus Christ has returned to the earth already. There will be many attempts to discredit Jesus Christ's character and diminish from who He says He is / was from the Holy Bible - don't say that you weren't forewarned.

After the crucifixition of their King. The Apostles were in hiding, fearing what was going to happen next. Next thing that they know, Jesus is in the room with them. Jesus tells them to wait for the promise from the father. Days later, there are about 120 believers gathered together in the upper room of Marks mothers home. And there came a sound as of a mighty rushing wind as the Holy Ghost filled them, and they began to speak in an unknown language as the spirit gave them utterance, they ran to the Temple where St. Peter gave the greatest sermon in thr history of mankind on the Day of Pentecost,(which is a well known fact that this is the first day of the first church). St. Peter said to repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall be given the gift of the Holy Ghost!! This promise is onto you and your children and to those that are called afar off.( this is generation to generation etc.) This is how God designed His Church, and He is still using it today!!! To get back to where I was. After the masses heard the message, 3,000 were added the first day, and more were added daily. When the feast of Pentecost was over, the people went back to their home countries. This is where the seperate Churchs were started. The Apostles would visit these Churchs or send letters of instruction to keep them living in the way that God instructed them to live. The Book of Acts was written to get you saved, and the Epistles were written to keep you saved. Asthe Apostles were dying out, the letters were gathered together and compiled into the Bible. The same Bible that we hold in our hands today. The Dead Sea Scrolls confirm this.

You!! and???? Where two or more are gathered in my name. It isn't the fancy buildings with their adgendas, programs, man made rituals or doctrines, flashy worship services etc. Try going to the streets and find someone who needs encouragement and offer some. Find a good home church www.trinity-aloha.org or www. housetohouse.net may help to find a home church sometimes also known as cell groups. Carefully read Acts. As for making you belive me: belive me or I'll come get you in your sleep!!!! Did that do it. Thought so.

The only Church that was founded by Jesus, established by the apostles, and that still teaches and practices the authentic Christian faith, according to the teachings of Jesus and the apostles, is the Catholic Church, which was the only Christian Church in existence for the first 1500 years of modern world history, and the source of all the protestant Christian denominations.
The Catholic Church remains one, holy, universal, and apostolic today, simply because God promised to keep it that way, in spite of the known weakness and corruption of some who govern it and belong to it.
You can find the Catholic Church everywhere, in almost every country of the known world.
Ask for it by name.
For complete and accurate information about the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church, send for my free Catholic Resource CD.

Some believe the Church Age has ended.
See:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_ch10.html
So the answer, according to these folks, is that there is no church that any Christian should be attending.

I will not convince you to believe, but I will tell you THE TRUTH that I have learned with God's mercy...
It is not true that all churches/religion in our times is the same, that all of them are of God. IT IS NOT TRUE. How can we proove that? If all of them are of God, why do their teachings differ from one another? For example, in food - there are churches/religion that prohibits their members to eat pork, but there are also churches/religions that you can eat anything you want... what does this means? It means that they are following different kind of instuctions or commandments, and it is impossible that it came from the same God. How we will know WHAT IS THE TRUE CHURCH? WHO IS TEACHING THE TRUE GOSPEL? because there are a lot of preachers today in our time that teaches "ANOTHER GOSPEL" a "PERVERTED GOSPEL OF CHRIST" (Galatians 1:6-8). So we must be careful. How we will know who among them, thousands of them, who IS preaching the truth?
It is said in 1John 4:1, ...try the spirits if they are of God... How we will do it, to try the spirits?
Listen to them all (Psalms 49:1-3) to what they are preaching, but don't believe yet. After listening to them, compare what they are saying, if it is from God. It is said in John 7:17-18, that the true sent of God does not speak from himself but from the one who sent him, "...that same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him." So we must assure that what the preacher is saying is from God, it must be written! Because ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD ARE WRIITTEN (I Corinthians 14:37). And that is why it is instructed by Apostle Paul not to exceed to what is written (I Corinthians 4:6). So we must not exceed to what is written.
So to find out what is the true church, let us see what is written. It is stated in I Corinthians 1:9,1-2, that He is calling to the fellowship of His Son in the CHURCH OF GOD, where the called out ones are sanctified in Christ Jesus. Because there are churches today that you cannot be sanctified or made holy. How is that? They are teaching their members that, "...once you are saved, you are always be saved. So you don't need to do good works, just believe..." IT IS DEVILISH! Sorry to say, but that is the truth! Imagine teaching their members, NO NEED TO DO GOOD WORKS?! What kind of church is that?! Can we say it is the true church?! NEVER!
So we must be careful, they are also using the Bible, don't be deceived. ALWAYS ASK, IS IT WRITTEN? Because if it is not written, it is not commanded by the Lord. We must learn not to exceed to what is written (I Corinthians 4:6). Know what is wriitten.
There is only one true Church in the Bible, and that is the CHURCH OF GOD, it is the house of the Living God (I Timothy 3:15)
I have a lot of things I want to say to you, the truths that i have learned with the help of God, but i'm "out of english words", im not used in this language. I'm a Filipino. I'm just trying hard to express what I believe. I'll just recommend you these sites, (helps me a lot):

http://www.theoldpath.tv/
It is a very good religious program, ANSWERING ALL QUESTIONS OF FAITH. That is why it was awarded as THE MOST INFORMATIVE RELIGIOUS PROGRAM from the recently concluded Gawad Amerika Awards.
Hope I'd been a little help. May the Lord God guide you.
