I'm not sure how popular this piercing is so I dont know how many people will know what i'm talking about, but I'm considering getting a conch piercing and if anyone has had theirs done, I'd like to hear about it. (pain, healing process, etc). I know pain and healing is different for everyone, thats why i want to hear different opinions on it. Thanks. :)

Also, Before I get a lot of answers of people telling me piercings are gross, dont bother.

gutten- Yes I did just get my rook pierced. thanks for remembering:-) I have my industrial done too. It wouldn't have been so bad but my piercer didnt do it right so he had to force the jewelry through my ear....which hurt. I do plan on waiting a while for my conch. Im just getting myself psyched up for it now so I'm prepared when I finally do decide to go get it. :)

Thank you for understanding that everyone is different :-P

I do have a conch piercing (of course I would LOL) and it was probably my most painful ear cartilage piercing to date. I think that it was bad only because of how thick the tissue is, but it wasn't TOO bad overall. The area was generally sore a lot longer than I expected it to be (sore for about a month) and the healing process is a bit slower than I thought as well. It drained longer than my other cartilage piercings and had more bleeding overall, but that amount of blood was very minimal. But with like with any piercing, it just needs tender loving care and it should be fine.

Pain set aside, I think the piercing is well worth it, very different and one of my favorites for sure. Good luck.

I have both my conches done, and I love them...it's not really that common yet, although you see a few here and there. For the most part, they were just sharp pinches when the needle went through, not too bad. Anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes later, they really start to burn, but by then, you've already got your beautiful new piercing, so it's too late to care. They can be sore to sleep on, and the first few times cleaning them will be painful, but after a week or two, they should start to feel a little better. Mine took about 6 months to heal completely, and I didn't have any complications. Good luck, conch piercings are among my favorites.
By the way, for those who don't know, the conch is the inner ear.

I don't have it but I do know what you are talking about and want one myself. A couple friends have them and they said it was like any other cartilage piercing. You will heal as you do, assuming nothing goes wrong of course. The only thing is now they can't use their old ear buds for their iPods on that side. A small price to pay. It's a cartilage piercing, it looks cool and is less likely to get caught on bedding and hair brush, and so forth. Give it some time between Rook and new Conch. for your bodies sake but yeah, do it, lol.

I pierced my own conch about a year ago and it hurt a lot at first. I used a safety pin BAD IDEA yet I continue to use that method. I think after two days I couldn't even tell I had it. The only thing about me piercing mine is I wasn't allowed that was a year ago now I have a lot of piercings ( just did another cartilage yesterday) and my parents would have killed me last year but now they don't rly care

BMEzine has some really cool pics of each piercing. As far as I know pain is relative to most people... what hurts for me might be like a mosquito bite to you. They recommend salt water soaks to speed healing, and to not use harsh things like alcohol. Take zinc tablets to make your immune system stronger (your body is healing a wound, just don't overdo it). Conches are cute... just make sure it suits your ear. I think healing varies but cartilage can take anywhere from 3-4 months to over a year to heal properly.

If your a good healer go ahead its going to suck because its the thickest part of your ear cartilage. Its going to burn and you won't be able to sleep on that ear for Awhile. But as far as healing everyone is different. I am a piercer and an up coming tattoo artist I got my upper ear cartilage pierced when I was 13 and I still can't ware the earring to this day because it hurts and burns so bad, and I am 26 years old now. I personally don't like cartilage piercings for my self but hey what ever floats your boat!

you are right. cant use another persons results as they all vary from one to another. but, count on some pain, soreness and if you don't keep it clean of course, infection. good luck
