Though I would recommend it to anyone, it would have to come down to what is actually troubling the individual. the training could be the gateway to improved violence, or realization of responsibility. flip the coin.

martial arts can be what the individual wants it to be: power over others or power over themselves.

you would really have to identify it on a case by case scenario.

It definitely helps them. They get a positive outlet for their energy, help with their self esteem, and a sense of belonging. A good school will give a troubled kid a second family. I know my dojang is very supportive of our students. We get kids in there from broken homes, who have abusive parents and neglectful homes. It's very rewarding to see a kid come out from a shell and become more out going and positive.

I believe it helps them. It gives them discipline, direction and, assuming they have a good sensai, holds them accountable for their actions. As their training progresses, they also gain a tremendous amount of self respect and self esteem

I would definitely recommend it
