MRSA is quite curable, if the appropriate antibiotics are used. The culture that showed MRSA would also show that antibiotics the particular MRSA bugs you had were sensitive to.

C-MRSA (community) is a different animal from H-MRSA. C-MRSA is more virulent, but is cured with simple antibiotics. H-MRSA is less virulent, but is only killed by potent antibiotics, such as Zyvox on vanco.

In reality, colonization (but not infection) with MRSA isn't uncommon.

MRSA can be treated with long term (4-6 weeks) antibiotics. After treatment the organisim then disappears or is colonized.

we see it a lot in prison, and the sensitivity studies will tell what it takes to knock it out. We use Septra and Rifampin in combination, because ours has shown sensitivity to it. Most commmunity acquired MRSA can be treated this way.
