I am a male, and looking to go into the cosmetology field in NYC. I will be starting next year. I was looking up some salons in NYC on the internet, and some of them were up to 400 dollars for a haircut! Does it depend on which college you go to, or does it depend on your training? And there are a lot of different colleges to choose from, which ones are the top ones? Thank you

if you have good training. You need to have good basics. But the way you get really trained is by working with master hairdressers and learning their tip, tricks and techniques. Usually they will train you and let you work in their salon but you would start as a $100 hair cutter and you dont get all the profits unless your the salon owner. Their is lots of of salons that charge 400 and more and lots of women willing to pay. You can have all the training in the world but if your not at the right salon people wont be willing to pay big bucks for your cut. It's all about the training and the name behind your training and how prestigeous your name becomes through word of mouth.
Their is also big money in colouring and weaving. most women with a good weave pay around 2000 for it.

i would never pay that much for a haircut.

but i guess some celebs or rich people go there because they have nothing better to do with their money. and maybe its a pretty good hairdresser damnit.

Well, you have to leave 100% of the costomers happy, and you have to be wildly known.

Maybe they charge $.10 for each individual hair that is cut. What do you think?
