And I want to inventory it and put it on my computer what would be the best way, and the best way to sort it?

I agree. Excel would be prime for inventory usage :)

Either Excel or MS Access will work just fine for this project.

Access does come with some size wizzards so help you setup forms and what not to make entering the data easier.

A simple spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel should be sufficient. You can categorize and sort it by whatever characteristics you like--color, length, quantity...
