Nerves do not break down, but emotional thinking does. When I had an emotional breakdown, I could not cope. I could not sleep, my mind had racing thoughts and I could not concentrate. I cried alot and I had horrid anxiety over nothing. I had panic attacks, my arms tingled, I could not eat and lost alot of weight. Well the good part is that the right anti depression med will restore brain function, since a break down is a chemical imbalance. It will take about 6 weeks for the brain to be restored. One day you will wake up after taking the right meds and really love life again. I have been well for over 4 years.

A nervous breakdown is just depression after some event.

It really ranges based on the serverity of the Event.
You can lose a game, then feel frustrated and depressed, but that seems neglidgeable in comparison to losing someone close to some tragic event.

How it is treated really varies by the individual being treated.
Some can just walk away.
Others only just counseling.
Some resort to spiritual guidance.
Others need counseling and drugs.
Some just never recover.

"Nervous Breakdown" is a garbage can label that can mean almost anything. There are many descriptions of "What it's like" having a "nervous breakdown" .

A Psychiatrist is needed to diagnose the mental illness and treat it with therapy and /or medication.

its the worst feeling i ever had in my life. i felt so alone to the point where i could not control myself. I felt abandoned by god, my family and everyone i knew and felt like everyone had turned their backs on me and left me to die. I sat in my dark room letting tears drip down my face in total darkness thinking i didn't deserve to live. Thats the best way i can put it in words. Basically it was the worst pain i have ever felt.

luckily i haven't fallen that far recently. im still trying to work it all out though.

Your whole world blows up and your out of control and everything is not able to be control ed and your feelings are as steady as a roller coaster and you see a doctor and talk with them and they give you proper meds and you slowly feel and get better.
That's about it in a rough description.
