The best way to handle this is just be honest with them. Tell them you love both of them but would like to know about your birth dad. Your stepdad may be hurt but your feelings right now are more important. Let him know how much it means to you that he loves you enough to adopt you, but that to make it easier on you if they could just tell you what he is like. That way when you turn legal age you can visit him if you wish. The main thing to ask yourself is do you love the man who has been your dad and now wants to adopt you? Anyone can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad.

If my dad have not show for 9 years then that says everything, now about the adoption, depends, is nice to know that there is someone out there that loves you unconditionally just as a dad, at times we focus in what we do not have, and we neglect what we have, so do not make that mistake, it will be time for you to look for your biological father, for the moment enjoy your childhood, thank that stepdad for been there for you and your mom, focus in school, that is going to be the only 'lotery' that you are going to have for your future. When people want to be there for you, they do make the effort to do it and you can see it; for the moment just enjoy your childhood, enjoy your family. I hope that I have help you in something. Good luck!!!!

There isn't any reason why you can't ask about your birth dad, and still be adopted. I don't know that it will hurt her, tell her your curious, which you are. Just be honest, it will all be OK.

ask her if she can give you some information about your father.
but seems like he does not to be known, if he has made an effort to see you.
Good luck, sound like you are getting a great dad since he is wanting to adopt you.

i think you should ask her. But make sure she's in a good mood. But expect hurt. EXPECT it! Your dad is your dad and will be your only dad always. You're his flesh, blood and bone.
