cosmetic sclerotherapy without treating deep veins?

i have pretty bad spider veins almost all over my legs. the doctor said that we can treat them without checking deep veins that might cause the cosmetic defect.
has anyone done this( injecting smaller spider veins without ultra sound and checking deep veins that are not visible)? how were the results?when did the veins come back?
