I see it time and again twenty and thirty somethings dating men in their fifties. What's up with that?

I have two girlfriends who formerly dated older men. One was molested by her middle school teacher at the age of 13 and the other by a stepfather. This might be a coincidence in their case, but I did see a study that showed that people who have been sexually abused tend to have difficulty relating to their peers. Also, both of them are really attractive and seemed to appreciate the fact that the older men would act like they were so lucky to be with them and just treat them with complete adoration. Anyway, this was several years ago, and now both of these women are in their late 20s and one is with a man her own age and the other just married a man 3 years younger than she is! They both seem to be much healthier now (one had actually gotten psychotherapy for some men-related "issues").
I think a lot of women derive so much self esteem from their looks/youth/sexuality and the prospect of getting older is so frightening, that they choose older men because they assume that they will appreciate them longer. They end up often shortchanging themselves (quite a few women are wondering at the age of 40 how they ended up with slovenly 65 year olds when their girlfriends are dating men in their 30s or 40s). And those men often have an obsessive fixation on young women anyway, so they aren't necessarily the ideal life partner. On the other hand, I have another girlfriend of 32 who is in love with a widower of 57, and their relationship seems perfectly healthy to me. I think they would actually be together if their ages were reversed!

Well The person I mention in my Q is 3x's older than me. If I had known back then what I was getting myself into I'd make a different decision. I met him when I was 16 and moved in with him when I was 18. Since i have been with him my life has crumbled. He's brainwashed me and I was young and guilible.
Now I am 27 yrs old And I guess he's not into me like he used to be. He's 'tried' me out and I guess I don't excite him ne more.
I'm older and I think that he wants to 'try' another young girl.
If you are a young female who likes older men make sure you pick the right one. you may think that choosing him because he's 'mature'. Personally some of them are not as mature as you think. They love to munipulate and brainwash young females so be careful

Money, young men are always looking for sex and not looking to make money. Young women need security. an older man is secure, and the younger woman will be his little darling.

B/c the old men want young girls and they buy them everything they want and spoil them and the young girls dont really care for them they just want those expensive gifts.lol

Women don’t want to feel as though they are completely responsible for your happiness and that is what it feels like when the other person has no outside interests. Men who are overeager or jump when the woman says jump are the ones who are more likely to end up in the friend zone. This doesn’t mean that you should play the game of not calling for a few days; it means that you should set healthy boundaries until you both naturally find a spot for the other in your lives.

i always dated older men b/c they treated me w/ more respect than the guys my age. it didnt hurt that they had their stuff in order, but it was mainly the fact that they know how to treat a woman
