i am planning a dance for grades 9 and 10
what are the things that i need
i have very little money
what are the things that MUST have to make it a sucess?

Well I went to high school once upon a time ;) I remember school dances having refreshments that can be bought (preferably not unwrapped since there can be tampering), good contemporary music/disc jockey (dj), perhaps a dance contest with prizes(?) I'm sorry that I can't think of anything more right now. Hope that that helps.

A place to host your dance. Good music. And people!!! And don't forget - you'll need to announce your dance with invitations, posters, or something. That might cost a few dollars and a trip to Kinko's.
If you have extra money, decorations, lighting, and snacks/drinks are nice. A photographer (maybe a parent or teacher) with a digital camera is a cheaper way to have photos taken there, then post them on a free photo-site and people can order their own photos! (:
