Most Christian churches make a serious distinction between demon possession & oppression. What you are describing sounds more like oppression.

I think Satan and his forces can disrupt things especially familys and it is really necessary to call upon God in prayer to protect us from those forces. Every Christian should be doing that on a regular bases daily. As far as demon possession goes I think it can take place without the knowledge of the one who is possessed as long as that one follows the demons. It seems to be that when people realize what is happening and try to break away from it that they run into difficulties. The Bible says to "give no place to the devil" and the best thing to do is to seek to serve God and just ignore the demonic altogether. Some evangelical churches spend a lot of time talking about demons and spiritual forces and they end up paying a severe price for their concentration on the demons. Other churches will go through their whole history and never have one incident of demonic possession in the church. I prefer the latter approach just because of the few encounters that I have had with demons over the years. It is terrifying and I would just as soon stay away from it completely.

Possession is rare, but can happen. If you have given your life to Christ, it is impossible. However, demons can whisper into your mind thoughts that you think are your own. If enough entries are provided within a family, you would see the tumult that you seem to be having. These entries can come in many forms, it would be hard to list.

Well, yes, especially if everyone involved is not a Christian.

A Christian cannot be possessed by demons.

A non-Christian belongs to satan, and under normal circumstances, demons cannot possess someone without being invited, or having permission, so to speak. However, sometimes non-Christians reject God to such a degree, or rebel so much against one of the main attributes of God (love, life, or truth), that they open themselves up to demonic possession, for the Bible says clearly that such open rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (whose primary offense is to open themselves up to be vessels of the demons).

They may not know about or understand demons, so they may not understand what is happening to them.

Well that is the summary for demonic possession, now for what they call demonic oppression. This is said to occur whenever demons come into lives and bother people, Christians and/or non-Christians. The main reason this happens is that someone close, in the family, in the house, opens their lives up to satan or to rebellion. The more non-Christians involved, the worse it gets, often leading to others being demonically possessed and/or oppressed.

A Christian in the middle of this can suffer great damage. Kind of like their house being set on fire and everyone is injured or dies, which might even include them. It happens, especially to the most righteous (think "martyrs").

You need to see this like a war and the enemy is sending in its spys and terrorists to cause trouble. They almost always sneek in, and they seek out sympathizers to their cause. Then they reek havoc according to what their mission is.

We need to be alert, to put our defenses up, we need to be prepared, to put on the full armour of God, know the Bible and so on. Just like war and looking out for those terrorists and spys. We also need to go on the offense by sharing the gospel and God's love with anyone who will listen. That is the best we can do.

Just like in a war, sometimes we will see miracles and get rescued, and sometimes protection is impossible. Sometimes we will win battles and sometimes we will lose battles. Win or lose, there are always casualities of war, prisoners taken, the lost and wounded.

That is just part of being a soldier. We need to stand strong, stand together, and do our part. Be smart, be prepared, have a plan, don't become the enemy. Fight the enemy, but don't hate.

You are like God's soldier in the world which is like the battlefield and our church is like our foxhole. The Bible is like our plan, our mission. Jesus Christ is like our radio to God, who is like our HeadQuarters.

Most people who are possessed have no clue that they are. Behind the scenes is one of the favorite place for them to work, if they were upfront in their workings we would recognize it and avoid them.

No. What you are describing can be of demonic origin though. They call this oppression though and not possession.

to me, the idea of demon possession is about as far from behind the scenes as "satan" can get. christians constantly blame arguments and bad things on satan without suggestion that he is possession of someone's body.

but, as the educated are very aware of, there are no demons. humans fight with each other because we have differences and emotions, and that's okay. its up to us how we choose to deal with those things, and i feel that its better to work on a real solution then to blame it on an imaginary shadow man.

Rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus and he will flee from you.

Those who are demon possessed opened doorways to their souls through actions involving forms of witchcraft. It will take being restored to God through Christ and asking Jesus to cleanse you of all sins that led to demonic possession, and asking Jesus to also close all doorways that are open to demons when you ask Him for forgiveness of your sins and to come into your heart.

Do it now!
