HEY....I DIDN'T ASK FOR CRITICISM, AND I DIDN'T ASKED TO BE JUDGED ON MY BELIEFS, I JUST ASKED WHY SOME PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE OUT OF CURIOSITY...IF YOUR GOING TO JUDGE ME THEN DON'T BOTHER!! IF YOU KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE IS SAYING SPIRITUALLY AND SYMBOLICALLY THEN YOU WOULD SEE THAT IT MAKES SINCE COMPARED TO WHO YOU ARE. IT TALKS ABOUT HOW AND WHY YOU ARE THE WAY YOU ARE INSIDE, AND HOW YOU CAN OVERCOME HATRED INSIDE YOURSELF. NOT IN THAT SPECIFIC SINCE BUT EVERYTHING PEOPLE HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT RELATING TO THE WORLD, OUR LIVES AND THE LORD...IS ALL THERE YOU JUST HAVE TO BE SPIRITUAL ENOUGH TO SEE IT THAT WAY!

Because when you look at other religions, you'll see clauses in their scripture that ALSO say, "This is the one true religion- the others are lying to you."

Your "Lord" is nothing special. There are many other belief systems nearly exactly like that of your "Lord" that were created all over the world before yours was.

What makes your "Lord" better than Ra? Or Zues? Or Odin of the Sun Spirit or the Creator Spirit of other religions? Is it because your "Lord" and the book about him told you so? Because that's a mighty one-sided and biased piece of literature.

There could be many reasons why. The reason I have come most into contact with through other people is that they lack undeniable proof of the Lord's existence. Others have said, "Why should i worship and believe in God if he has made me suffer?" Still others have found that science has been more believable than an ancient religion. The Bible has been tampered with by those corrupt leaders who didn't want to lose their power, therefore, the Word we are told may not be the Word that was originally written into the Bible. Revelations just barely made it into the book, and some sections did not find a place welcome for them by the cardinals of the time. Also, other religions also have that one infamous sentence, "This is the one true religion." If all of them are true, then how can any of them be true? There is only one true answer, and at the end of our days we will find out who is right, and who is wrong.

The world is billions of years old. Christianity did not come on the reglious scene until about 2007 years ago. Prior to that the Pagan people honored the earth and sky. Without Mother Earth we would have no oxygen to breathe, no firmament to walk and build on. We would have no food, no water. The earth provides these things for us. The Christian religion was forced on the Pagans under threat of death. The Christian holidays are all derived from Pagan holidays. Examples include Easter- it is Ostera, and was celebrated by coloring eggs which represented the rebirth at Spring, the hare or rabbit was also part of the symbolism. Christmas was Yule. It was celebrated by giving small gifts and burning the Yule log and feasting. There is no devil in the early religion. This is another thing that the Christians leaders like to spread about that non-christians are devil worshipers. Nothing could be further from the truth. The early Christin leaders adapted the holidays to Christianity in order to make it more appealing to the Pagans who resisted Christianity. If you dont believe me do a little research yourself.

Just like me when I want to know why people DO believe in the Lord...

Is it:
1) because their parents taught them to do so ?
2) to act like the majority ?
3) to refuse some aspects of sciences ?
4) to feel comfortable when they realize the size of the Universe ?
or
5) to find a good excuse for colonialism and crusades ?

I believe there may be an afterlife. I don't believe that you are required to accept Jesus Christ as your savior to avoid an eternity of torment. The christian bible was written by men who claimed to be writing God's word. Of that, there is no proof. There is greater proof in NDE's that christianity is merely one version, an out-of-date version, of the afterlife. Christianity is an virtually identical rip off of an older pagan religion, Mithras. A rip off right down to the "savior" figure. In other words, it's a copy, not an original. :)

I believe that all organized religions are merely a process by which mankind slowly matures over the millenium to a greater understanding of himself and the universe. As we mature spiritually, we can throw off religions which require a punitive Father figure who will punish us for being "bad" children.

When we learn true enlightenment, we no longer need to use our religions as a weapon against other people. In fact, we will no longer need organized religion at all. We will simply be spiritual in every day living, as naturally as breathing in and out.

Until then, religions like christianity work as a crutch for some and a means to oppress the poor and ignorant for others. But I believe we are moving in the right direction where we will eventually outgrow what is basically another pagan religion and move on to a simpler spirituality that is truly only about love.

There is no evidence that there is a god. No evidence essentially means that someone made it up. It isn't rational or reasonable to believe in things without any evidence to back it up. You would be stuck with hundreds of thousands of gods and everything else that human imagination could come up with since they all have the same evidence.

Not believing in god is the same as not believing in Odin, Zeus, Ra, Hera, Bacchus, The Great Spirit, Osiris, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and all the others. I would be no less surprised of evidence of Odin was found than I would be if evidence of your god was.

I believe in the Lord Krishna.

But I assume you are speaking of Jesus (because Hindus don't usually proselytize), so let me TRY to address your question.

I believe that Jesus was just a man, and I believe this based on the study I have done of the Bible, and history. I base this belief on evidence. However, I believe that if you want to worship "Jesus" as the Lord, then this can be acceptable to God - and He will accept the worship as if you had worshiped God. The reason I believe this is because people have recreated Jesus into something that he was not, and have attributed to him attributes that are God's. Therefore, he has become like a valid image of God.

So to sum up, I respect your worship of the Lord Jesus, but I do not personally find this satisfying for myself, because I know that what Jesus really taught and did are far from what the New Testament says he taught and did.

People don't believe because they cannot believe.

I personally think that everyone is pre-dispositioned to accept or reject a faith. Why do muslims remain in islam despite muhammad's immoral behavior? And despite the islamic q'uran going against secular history and logic???

Why?

Well, you won't find answers because according to the bible, the christians were chosen from the day they were conceived! God chose them and built them up towards holiness and righteousness. We think that we are responsible for our actions yet, the bible also says that God guides every single step of the righteous.

Do you really think you are running your own life? Think again.

Many people are too lazy to do any actual research to see if there really is a God, because there is ample empirical evidence that God exists, and that He left His Word for us, called the Bible.

But I believe that the vast majority of people reject the concept of a "Lord" because they want to be their own gods. If they were to accept the fact that there is actually a God, that He exists, and that the Bible is in fact His Word, then that will require them to change their lifestyle- ie, forgive people that have hurt them, stop cheating, lying, stealing, stop sleeping around, etc. If they can deny His existence loudly enough, they feel that they can continue on with their lives as they please, and not have submit to God, and live as He demands.

It is not the parts of the Bible that I don't understand that scare me, it is the parts that I do understand but don't follow. (paraphrase of Mark Twain)

Because the contradictions in the lore on the supposed existence of God are too many to list here. There's absolutely no proof that the Christian god a) exists at all and b) is the one god out of the thousands worshipped throughout history that is the one who actually exists. I began to question the existence of god when I was 10; I've never stopped searching for the truth, and my search has led me to agnosticism, where I'm very happy.
