ABSOLUTELY Go to a professional. Going wo Wal-mart may cost you more than you bargined for if your hair doesn't turn out which is a HUGE possiblility.
Go for the professional salon. That's your best bet!

Go to a salon first so you get your base and undertones lifted correctly.
After you see what your stylist uses, then go to Wal-Mart or a beauty supply store.
Keep in mind that Wal Mart doesn't always keep the same brands, where as your stylist will.

I did highlights myself a few times & they turned out far more "chunky" than a salon would have made them. For highlights, I would certainly suggest going to a salon unless you want "blocky" looking highlights (some people DO like those, though). A professional would be more able to give you natural looking highlights.

I have never tried the highlights in a box nor do I know anyone who's tried it, but I don't imagine it would work that well. I would go to a salon and get foil highlights, that's what looks best and it probably lasts longer- especially if you use pureology shampoo.

if you highlight your hair enough it will make it look greasy no matter what you do unless you wait a few years. just don't highlight your hair anywhere but in the sun! people pay big bucks to have hair like mine. mine is natural. it is from the sun and just because that is my color. if you don't want to sit in the sun just put lime juice in your hair where you want the highlights to be and then sit in the sun for about an hour and it will work just fine. your hair won't be greasy eigther. but definitely don't use the stuff at wal-mart

NO WAY!!! If you get highlights make sure you go somewhere nice and not one of those really cheap salons or get a recomondation from a friend, neighbor or something like that. Do not use walmart or any pharmacy hair die!!!
