Why do some people worship a "God" who would kill millions who do not follow him, with floods or fire rained down from above, but those very same people will cry ‘Madman’ when a country's leader eliminates millions in a program?

The God you speak of is not the Father, which is in heaven, nor is he the Word of God,
He is the God of Moses and of the Prophets.
Remember Jesus said I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, he did not say Moses.
Remember the 3 temptations of Jesus, where did the Devil carry out these 3 temptation, on a high mountain, on the temple, in the desert of sinai;
Sinai means "of sin" The mountain on which Moses received the so-called 10 commandments was call Mount Sinai or the Mountain of Sin.
Jesus said that kingdom divided can not stand, what did Moses do when he came down the mountain with the "10 commandments" he though them down and gave orders to kill 3000 of his own people.

Because THEY (the followers), have been indoctrinated by Fanatics, zealots and liars!
There are many gods, messiahs and prophets! Yet everyone seems to hate and despise each other because of religion and different belief systems. Until tolerance, understanding and a willingness to learn is accepted. It will remain the same, an undisputed belief that a 'god' exists and that the 'bibles' are real!
When in fact we are all just meant to live under a sensible and decent moral code!

God says He is only good, God says He is God, that He is the perfect Judge and no one else. Oue lives are nothing compared to what awaits those who trust Him. Seeing that He is the Creator
and we are not, who are we to question Him when He knows the beggining to the end. God uses everything to see how those who love Him will react during our tribulations.
He is perfect judgement. How do you know where those that are "dead" are or for what purpose He used them for ?
Some may be a hundred times "more " alive than us down here.
His ways are NOT our ways He says, but He is Good and He is perfect in judgement. are you ? know anyone that is ?

Because to those who love God and respect Him need not fear His wrath. God does not answer to you for the reason He brought judgement on people. God is fair and if you don't know that then you don't know God. I wonder how people cannot worship a God who loves them.

because people are weak and must have someone to follow so they follow a god. Authority figures do not want to lose their hold over them so they drive people by fear. This fear forces them to stay in the religion.

Actually, those 'millions' were more like 'thousands' and by the way, they were downright refusing to obey.
Kill= murder for no just cause.
God did not kill anyone. He served justice, case and point.
The innocent are saved.
That's biblical. No babies to worry about.
