Not much, it's ridiculous how students have been suspended over taking a tylenol for cramps or over a dull butter knife that their mom accidentally dropped into their bag making lunch or whatever. Common sense should always be allowed to override the written rules.

Using schools for an example, there will always be those that push the envelope to see what they can get away with. The good thing about zero tolerance is that it takes away the "I can be bad because I can" mentality. Once is enough, and you are gone. That leaves those that abide by the rules to learn in a better environment.

There should be zero tolerance in schools ..and the zero policy should include PARENTS! The policy is only as good as what is taught at home! EOM!

Students know that after the first infraction you're gone....no second chances. Everybody plays by the same rules.
