How about leaving them alone and not trying to force your religious beliefs on others?

Spreading the Word was never meant to be easy!!! You know, I once visited a Pacific island where there was a little stone circle with an altar in it which served as a place of worship for the first Christian missionary on this island group and the people he converted. Nearby is the grave of said missionary - the non-believers brutally murdered him and his parishoners buried him.

In many places in the world it is still a crime, often punishable by death, to proselytize. And in places where it's legal and relatively acceptable, you are always going to encounter people who are not receptive, and some will even resort to violence.

On the upside, in this day and age you have all kinds of forums for expressing your beliefs and getting the message across. You don't need to be "in-your-face". Even here, you get to encounter people from all over the world and say what you want to say. They might not agree, but they will read it. And I think a lot of people are intensely interested in religion nowadays - even if they don't practice a religion. If you can capture their attention, even for a brief moment, you might get them thinking. And from little acorns mighty oaks grow!

It is really disgusting that some Christians think they need to "convert" others and turn them into Christians. They should learn to respect others and allow them the dignity of making their own choices.

Judaism has more class than Christianity. Adherents of Judaism do not buttonhole you and demand to know are yew saaaaaved brother, have yew let Moses into your heart as your own personal savior.

Even mainstream Christians have more class than to come to your door and hassle you like a bunch of fundies or Mormons. Did you ever see a Roman Catholic or an Anglican on your doorstep pushing their religion? Of course not. They know that if you want what they have to offer you will find them.

Grow up and find a real religion and you won't feel driven to bring people of other religions to yours. You will respect them and maybe learn something by listening to them instead of preaching at them.

sanjey: As a Christian, I can tell you, that only God [Jesus] can bring or draw people to Himself. It is a "calling" not an all out effort by main stream religion to "get people saved". Why would God use people when He could send an angel and have everyone in the world respond to His will ? Obviously, He is not trying to save everyone now. Everyone will ultimately, be given his or her chance at salvation at the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. If God were trying to save the world now, He is failing - big time. Satan would be more powerful, as he is getting far more people both, past and present to follow him. Since God created the devil - Satan, He will prove to be far more capable at drawing people to Him, later. In the very end, all human beings ever, born will WIN !!!

Why would you want to do that? Trying to convert someone to your religion shows a lack of respect for their beliefs. Contrary to what most christians believe not everyone wants to share your belief. If you think I am damned to an eternity in hell, then so be it. That is not what I believe and a christian thing to do would be to respect that.

I'm not a Christian, but I respect Christians. I believe that in all cases - not just the one you have described - it is best to simply LIVE the life of a good follower of Christ. Represent Christ's teachings in your day-to-day life. And be really genuine. Let your actions be the ultimate teacher.

I can just advise that you be an example and WAIT 'til the person is ready to listen. You can't FORCE someone to truly accept a belief system.

If they're not ready to listen, you can't tell them anything. The best thing to do is to have an open conversation with them. Talk about the differences between your beliefs without putting theirs down. Make your belief something they want. When they want it, they will make an effort to get it.

A man once said, "The way to a man, is through his
religion. Not our own."
Too many people want to preach their own brand of
religion. But if you show respect for, and knowledge of another man's religion. He might read your Holy Book.
And if you really believe in it. Have faith Our Creator
will do the rest.

why would you want to? People should be free to follow any religion they want without anyone trying to ram a different belief system down their throats. All religions are special and i really admire people who are able to convert to a different religion after being born to one specific religion - but i don't think that anyone should be brainwashed or forced to convert.
