I do trust it to a certain extent. You are correct the media has become a powerful tool. Maybe too much because we have a lot of people in this country who cannot analyze situations and believes what the media tells them. I think the media is concealing facts from the public and its not just the media's fault either. Part of it has to do with business. So they have to take responsiblilities! So in a way the media informs us of our current society but yet it hides certain facts.

No, I don't trust. I have a good reason. 4 guys I know are currently on remand (in jail) for beating a teen which that charge later upgraded to murder. When the truth is, that teen robbed one of the 4 guys his brother's necklace at a beach, and he went to the police station to make a report. He went to the cinema New Year Day, and spotted the robber with a gang. 14 men came to attack the victim of previous incident -- he tried to get away from them, and he shouted for help. The 3 came to his rescue and held one of the guys and beat him up. But not to death. That teen died in hospital by a week after. And I happen to be a girlfriend of one of the 4 guys. Almost the whole nation is against them because of what they see/hear in the media when they don't even know the honest truth.

I think that over exaggeration and targeting is a definite, I watch news in Britain then watch same news on an American channel, then exactly the same news on a Turkish channel, and it shocks me most of the time as how they all read and show and try to carve that very same news so differently...

There is a wounded boy (for example) in the news, one will show the boy one will show the wound one will show the gun, but what we really need to see is this WHO did it and WHY......

Then its easy to say to someone he/she is brain washed we are all brain washed if we get the news from only one source...

Of corz no. Becoz there is no neutral media boss in the world, all of them are businessmen which want to play roles in the governments.

I try to guess the SECRET REAL NEWS when I watch TV news or read newspaper.
