Being an active member of the NHS is really good to have on your transcript when you apply to colleges. Even more so if you're applying for scholarships. Also, you should have some community service like voulenteering at a library, or some other charity work. If your school has a beautification day, that also boosts your chances at nice prizes when you go for college $.

National Honors Society is something you can put on your college application. Depending on your school, NHS can also do various activities for the comminuty, and so forth.

i'm not sure about your high school, but at my high school, you just had to go to a couple meetings and volunteer for different activities, like a canned food drive or a blood drive. don't you feel good when you help others? also, it looks good on your college applications when you say you were a member of NHS!

it'll look good when you apply for admittance to a university. the downside for me was having to maintain points through volunteering in order to keep my membership. i had to volunteer during school holidays while the juvies got to stay home. that didn't seem fair to me, but the membership literally paid off when i went to college.
