You can request one free credit report each year from one or all three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax and Trans Union.
You can order all three now, or one at different times.
Also, if you are ever turned down for credit, you can use the letter provided to request a free copy of your credit report that was used in your denial letter, and can do this as many times as you are denied credit.

http://annualcreditreport.com gives you a free credit report for all 3 agencies once every year. the only thing is that they don't give you a fico score you must pay for that.
