Nope...its run its course. I hope our generation sparks the death of religion.

I don't think humanity needs dogmatic religion. It doesn't need religion that holds the primary principle as serving a "higher power" and separates people into groups (sinners vs. saved).
Spirituality wise, I think society could still do well with a healthy belief that good deeds in this life will lead to some form of happiness (or reward) after death. Such as many eastern religions which advocate reincarnation - from what I've seen this definitely helps to deter crime and give people a sense of purpose.
In other words, people still need something to believe in - spiritually. But they don't need organized religion, malevolent Gods or a belief in absolutism (good vs. evil).

Because nearly all of us are aware of our own ignorance (unlike some arrogant bulb-heads who think they can "reason out" eternity). We need to think about things that are unlikely and far-reaching just to resolve our burning need for answers. What seems "likely" and "logical" is just a lazy man's way of thinking and intuiting and seeing and feeling. Real spirituality is flying way, way out of the box, or in this case, the cuckoo's nest until it finds something that few or nobody has found.
Organized religions should be nothing more than community programs for helping people. Real religion should be an entirely personal affair.

All homo sapiens require a spiritual dimension in order to live as whole people. This is different from religions that were created by finite human beings. We don't need them.

For some, religion is a source of joy and happiness. For the rest of the world, it is a reason to murder, hate, and die. See- the Crusades, the Holocaust, September 11.

No....all we need is Jesus...
" I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me". -- Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6)
" Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved". (Acts 4:12)

We need God.
Even if all humanity stopped believing, our saving grace would still be God’s grace. He wouldn’t give up on us even if we gave up on Him.
