Because of a raise in price of birth control pills i had to switch from ortho tricyclen lo to cyclessa. my mom said it was the generic for ortho lo. but i recently found out it is not. i did not wait a week after having my period to have sex. does anyone know if i could be pregnant or do they have the same ingredients or something? also is anyone on cyclessa having emotional problems like breaking down and crying? or is that because i may be pregnant?

there might be a chance you are pregnant just because you didnt wait a week after your period, there are tablets with more effective ingreaditions than some, because you are more likely to get pregnant the following week of your period, so those tablets would be stronger than it gets weeker by the week. I would go to a walk in clinic and get blood work to see if you are pregnant or not. Because if you wait, taking the pills while h
having a baby is not good for the child. So best to know right away.
dont just get a home test either, because they wont tell you if you are pregnant till your next period and some might be off. Its best to go to the doctors for blood work.

There is no more chance of pregnancy here than any other time on the pill, as long as you started the new pill within 7 days of finishing your last back. Starting a new pill can cause side effects, which could be why you're emotional. As long as you had no more than 7 days on placebos & have taken your pill nightly around the same time, you have less than a 1% chance of pregnancy, just like on the pill normally.

hey, the same thing just happened to me!! it is not the same thing, but what the physician told me was that if i didn't miss a day, and took them at the saem time every day, just like i had my ortho tri cyclen, that it would be fine. i haven't had emotional problems really, though i have been unusually sad, but i think it's just because i miss my fiance. i have however, had some nauseua, dizziness and headaches, and trouble sleeping, non of which i had on tricyclen.

the ingredients aren't the exact same, but from what i'm getting, they do the saem thing.

i'm on Ortho tri cyclene low - and switched to a generic and hated it. It is probably just the difference in hormone levels. Also, you are probably psyching yourself out thinking you are pregnant, believe me, I've done that too. I would drop the $8 or whatever it is to get a pregancy test just to ease your mind. I always have a test because I'd rather take a quick test and know rather than freaking out for days on end.

Hope that helps!

as long as you went from one birth control to another without skipping a month you should be okay. But if you see your emotions changing it could be the new pill, tell your doctor to see if he can switch you to something else.
