MY daughter in law is and maybe my grandaughter. She had to go to the emergency room two weeks ago because she dislocated a ligament while playing. I was holding her hand tonight while she pulled up off of the floor and her arm popped. She now says it hurts really bad. I think that they are taking her to the doctor. Does this happen in children who are double jointed?

do they have osteogenesis imperfecta (means imperfectly formed bones) i have an extensive family history of OI and have it myself. we break easily and have joints that dislocate easily.

have mom and dad talk to the childs doctor to rule this out as a diagnosis. there is a website for OI, just do a search for it!!

I don't know to be honest. I'm double jointed in my wrists and hands but never had any ligaments pop out, more at risk of it breaking then anything because don't feel the pain until its at that point.

Maybe, but it might be some sort of condition with the ligaments and tendons causing the bones to pop out of place. Check with a doctor.

i had never heard about double jointed people being hurt easily,I had always heard that it kept them from breaking them so easy,I was double jointed and could always twist my elbows and wrists in weird positions and it freaked alot of people out...I hope your grand daughter is ok though

with my daughter i would have to walk holding her by her forearm, because her wrist would dislocate. i had problems all my life, so she did inherit this from me. she got better as she got older.
