It is their calculation working back to the year of creation. I think they lost a couple of hundred years, but can't tell for sure.

It means you have an old calendar.

The Jewish calendar has this year as 5767 from creation.
Some basic math would show that the Western calendar's "Year 1" would be about 2006 years ago, or 3761 (ish).

contrary to popular belief it dose not represent creation.

Year one starts on the sixth day of creation. Namely the birth of mankind.


Judaism takes no stance on the actual lenght of time the six "days" were and thus they are not part of the calendar.

I think that is when they set the date for creation and went from there. Year 1 would be the 360th (or 365th )day from creation. I believe the early calender may have had 360 days?
