Serbian shot the next-in-line-for-the-throne of Austria-Hungary. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Serbia was allied with Russia. Russia declared war on Austri-Hungary, which was allied with Germany. Germany declared war on Russia, who was allied with France. France declared war on Germany. When Germany marched into Belgium, Great Britain got into it.

Germany was attacking american civilian ships which made The U.S. mad. then already mad at Germany, the U.S. intercepted a telegraph from Germany to Mexico asking them to declare war on us to keep us out of Europe because they were on the verge of victory and didn't want us spoiling it. So naturally we were mad and so we got into it.

World War I was a royal family squabble that got way out of control, but was started when a Serbian shot and killed Archduke Ferdinand. Then all the cousins started fighting and, well, I'm sure you know the rest.

It may not have been Germany, but, they drew America into the war with the sinking of a luxury cruisline, The Lucitania. Isn't this right professor?

BUT if it WASN'T Germany who started WW1, then why did the world counsil have them disarmmed? Why was Germany BLAMED for the beginning of, and all the aggression?

oh man, can of worms here (are you sure you shouldn't be in History?)

in a nutshell, all the major european powers, who were all very jingoistic at the time, so Russia, Germany, Austro-Hungary, France, Britain, not to mention Italy and Turkey.

it was a powder keg in 1914 waiting for someone to strike a match--if it hadn't been Gavrilo Princip, it would have been something/someone else
