I've always thought it was yucky my whole life, but I know it's really healthy for you and I want to cook Japanese food which uses a lot of fish, so is there anyway I can learn to like it??

theres no way to LIKE fish, you have to like to eat it. Try Northern Pike. AWESOME. Watch for bones though. Also, try some seafood sauce on it

I hate fish, if you don't like it, eventually you will stop eating it.

There are other ways of getting a healthy diet without eating fish. Fish isn't necessarily "healthy" it can have any number of toxins in it if it's from the sea -- some toxins that come from the natural environment of where the fish live.

As for lake fish, they also can have toxins as well as mercury.

Fish has healthy fat and is a good source of protein and it may even be healthier than red meat or fowl, but no one knows for certain.

But you can't catagorize fish as being healthier. One slice of tuna may have low toxicity another slice of tuna may come from a fish that swam through a red-tide zone. All I am saying is that just because it's fish doesn't mean it is automatically healthy or healthier.

However, if you try to find healthy foods that you do like you will be more likely to stick to those foods.

Actually, Japanese food doesn't utilize lots and lots of fish, unless you're wanting to make sushi! It sounds like you don't particularly like fish and you might ask yourself why. The typical reasons are: texture, flavor, and how to cook. If you prefer heartier fish in texture but mild in flavor, look for Halibut or Swordfish. Ahi tuna is always a favorite. Flakier fish might include tilapia, snapper, and catfish. Go to a restaurant that specializes in fish and ask for a suggested fish to try. Pay attention to the texture and seasoning of your dish and find out how to emulate it. Dietary standards state that you should eat 2 -3 fish meals a week. If you eat more, then you stand a risk of developing mercury poisoning. Wild caught fish is preferred to farm raised because of contaminants and mercury. Whole Foods Markets have some of the best fish around and often hold cooking classes to teach you how to cook it. Good luck and Bon Appetit!~

You could just start a diet by eating different fish once a day for your meals. I don't really like fish but it's not so bad once you get ust to it. And you could also try being in an environment that most people eat fish. Such as the Japanese would do. Try these sources I found for you. They might help a lot!

My best friend HATED fish until he tried it prepared different than what you normally get. Also it was the fact it was not Gordon's fish sticks either. You will need to try different types of fish and definitely go to a book store and get a cook book based strictly on how to cook fish, that really makes the difference. The book that I have shows many different easy sauces, and or condiments to add to your fish so it changes the "FISH" taste and allows you to start the influence into your diet. Good luck

I hate fish. I also hate the flavor cherry. I wouldn't take cough syrup even if I was in the hospital. Start off small. Just a bite here and there of the kind you can tolerate. After that because fine add a little more. It's the way I got over my cherry flavoring dislike. I hope it works for you and if not you can always take flax seed to help feel in the gap of not eating fish. I prefer the nutty flavor over the fishy one any day of the week.

I used to think i hated all fish but found out if I made cod or perch I could tolerate that because it tastes less fishy. Just try different kinds. I would not recomend catfish or swordfish....really fishy....ick!! You can also get fish oil capsules that will give you all the good fish nutrients w/o having to actually eat it. These really helped my Dads health. It is a little pricier, but I highly recomend Orange roughy. It is very tasty for fish. I love it !

Try salmon, its to me the least "fishy" tasting fish. Once you get the hang of that you'll become a little more accustomed to the sea taste. I like to season my fish with different things and seasonings that will also rid your fish of the fish taste. Japanese food is ideal for this because you can use things like soy sauce and orange sauce to play around with flavors. Good luck! Once you really try it I think you'll love it!

Choose a white fish, it is less fishy tasting. Rinse it well before you cook it. Also seasonings will make the fish taste better. You just have to find one you like. Orange roughy and halibut are very mild fish, try those.

if you dont like fish, then there will be no way you ever will..i hate fish, and no matter how many times i try to prepare it differently, i still cant stand the taste..you can cook japanese food without fish, subsutute it with tofu..its not that bad, but you have to make sure you dont overcook it..sorry i cant help you any more..

try cooking fish in a way you would normally cook meat, say, a steak. use blue marlin for this, because the texture is a little more "meaty" as compared to other fish. pan fry it in a little olive oil and top with roasted garlic, with a side of mashed potatoes and a lemon wedge. hope that helped :)
