If science can prove without a doubt the tomb contains the human remains of Jesus, Mary Magdolin and their child, Judah ... will Christianity finally turn to the One true God of the Old Testament, as well they should?

It will be interesting to see what is said. Then I will weigh the evidence.

Sure, if science can prove without a doubt the tomb contains the human remains of Jesus, Mary Magdalen, and their child Judah. But as strange as this may sound to you Christianity never turned away from the Most High God. Odds are pretty good it is a scam much along the same lines as the apostles stealing the body and lying about a Resurrection, or Mohammed talking to the Angel Gabriel. God is bigger than religion and science.

Science isn't going to ID a 2000 year old corpse, or even a family of corpses accurately enough to prove anything, so it's all just a TV show anyway.

The tomb bears the names Jesus, Mary and Joseph and one of the caskets even bears the title, "Judah, son of Jesus," hinting that Jesus may have had a son. But scientists argue the names were extremely common during that time period, and in no way prove the Jesus buried at the site was Jesus Christ.

Another researcher whose work has focused on the Middle East, biblical anthropologist Joe Zias, has dismissed Cameron's claims as "dishonest".

"It has nothing whatsoever to do with Jesus, he was known as Jesus of Nazareth, not Jesus of Jerusalem, and if the family was wealthy enough to afford a tomb, which they probably weren't, it would have been in Nazareth, not here in Jerusalem," he said.

He said the appearance of the names proved nothing.

I'll rebuke the lost gospels forever. Science will not prove that Jesus Christ ever married, much less had a child. The One true God of the Old Testament is Christianity's God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but His Son is Jesus Christ who died on the cross of calvary for our sins and was resurrected and sits at the right hand of Almight God.

Science cannot prove anything. To whom or what are they comparing these DNA samples? Jesus, Judah, Mary were all common names back then. All this proves is some persons by those names were buried there. They prove nothing else.

For DNA evidence to work there needs to be something to compare it to. For instance, someone may say they are your child, but without DNA to compare it to, any DNA they give is worthless.

The big question is for all you aetheists, is how can you possibly reconcile all this with your belief that Jesus didn't exists. Hey your scientific DNA evidence says he did. You seem to put your faith in the DNA, but still deny Jesus existed, even though your DNA says he did. So now I guess you have to choose. If you still don't believe in Jesus then the DNA is a load of hokus pokus, which then blows all your other theories outa of the water. If you believe in the DNA then it blows your theory outa of the water that Jesus didn't exist.

So which is it????????

Never fear, science will never be able to prove without a doubt that those remains were those of Jesus et al. Some names inscribed in rock slabs is evidence, but miles away from being solid proof. That's not how archaeology works. I'd know, as I am the drink of choice of an archaeologist.
Religious faith will remain religious faith, no matter what evidence people come up with, anyway. It's not like the religious all buy into scientific data when it contradicts their beliefs, so why should they hop on the bandwagon when it comes up with something in their favor? They'd have to acknowledge the validity of empirical observation as the foundation of knowledge.

We worship the same God,the God of the Old Testament.
The main scholar who is the source for the story does not think it is Jesus' tomb.
Mary, Joseph, & Jesus are among the four most popular names in the ancient world, much like James,Matthew, and Margaret are today. They weren't unusual names in the slightest.Says Bar-Ilan University Professor Amos Kloner,"..those were the most common names found among Jews in the first centuries BCE and CE"
DNA cannot prove the identity of a person if they do not have another sample. All the DNA can prove,is that they are related to each other. But,there weren't even any bones to test in the first place!
Jesus' family isn't even from Jerusalem. Why would they be buried there?
Prof. Amos Kloner, the Jerusalem District archeologist who officially oversaw the work at the tomb in 1980 and has published detailed findings on its contents, on Saturday night dismissed the claims. "It makes a great story for a TV film," he told The Jerusalem Post. "But it's impossible. It's nonsense."
Kloner, who said he was interviewed for the new film but has not seen it, said the names found on the ossuaries were common, and the fact that such apparently resonant names had been found together was of no significance. He added that "Jesus son of Joseph" inscriptions had been found on several other ossuaries over the years.
"There is no likelihood that Jesus and his relatives had a family tomb," Kloner said. "They were a Galilee family with no ties in Jerusalem. The Talpiot tomb belonged to a middle-class family from the 1st century CE."
Archeological evidence shows that chances of these being the actual
burialsof the Holy Family are almost nil," said Motti Neiger, a spokesman for the
Antiquities Authority.
Prof. Kloner said there was no way the tomb housed the Holy Family.
The senior Israeli archaeologist who thoroughly researched the tombs after their discovery, and at the time deciphered the inscriptions, cast serious doubt on it.
"It is just not possible that a family who came from Galilee, as the New Testament tells us of Joseph and Mary, would be buried over several generations in Jerusalem."
The lost books are not lost at all.The early Christians never considered the books to be authoratative or inspired, and most of them were written by the Gnostics, centuries after Jesus.

I'm an atheist and i doubt if it's the tomb of Jesus. it was discovered in 1980 so why the big fuss now, do i hear the sound of cash registers? it would be impossible for science to prove that this was the biblical Jesus, on the other hand they can't prove it's not the biblical Jesus. i guess it's all down to faith in the end.

Even if this is looked from a scientific view, it's completely ridiculous. What would they compare the DNA to? If people have found a sample of Jesus's DNA, then there wouldn't be a debate of whether Jesus existed or not, which He did.

The only way it can be proven that it's Jesus's tomb is by history, and history = his story, so that wouldn't be valid at all either.

They are not sure the name was translated properly, and besides in those days Jesus was a popular name. There is no prof that it is the body of Jesus Christ they have found. Also the tomb was discovered about twenty years ago. Why wait to revel this? Plus Jesus and his whole family, (Yes the bible says he had siblings!) they all lived no where near Jerusalem. Even if Jesus was buried in Jerusalem for the sake of not transporting his body his family would not have chosen to be buried there.
