In a lot of states it is 12. However, if there are outside factors (living arrangements, bad character, etc) a court will likely appoint a guardian for the child to figure out which home is a better fit. The child's choice is taken into account but it is not necessarily definitive.

I think 12 or 13. But I have seen as young as 8 or 10. Its up to the judge. Some times they ask the child.

This definitely depends on the state you are in. Most states however, will not let the child choose, but will instead base the visitation schedule off of information gathered in court, and any statements/testimony the child makes.

In my state (SD) it's 12 or 14...I don't know if it's the same in every state. It also depends on the reason and if the other parent is an unfit parent they can't get custody.

12 is the age when the child can choose. I know when I was at that age I wanted to live with me dad, however my mom had sole cusidy of me, so I went to a lawyer with my dad and asked to know my rights. and they told me that at the age of 12 I was allowed to choose who I wanted to live with....
