What the military is doing with your orders is finding a place to send you. It's called manning. It goes according to a thing called MTO&E (Modified Table of Organization and Equipment) which lists all the positions by MOS and requirement for that particular organization. Each organization is different. Be patient while the system works. Welcome to the military. You will figure out the hurry up and wait stuff.

Paperwork gets caught up in lots of red tape. If you have to get a person to proofread it, then you rewrite it about 5 times (IN between proofreading). Then you submit it to your supervisor for approval. Then your supervisor does the whole process again, and then his supervisor, and then his and so forth.
Then it's Christmas exodus lol!!

It's because they have to ensure your safety. I'm Infantry Marine Corps and I have to stand by to stand by every time I work. I have to get up at 0230 to get ready for a 20K hump that starts at 0800. It's to make sure everything we need to gotten, everything that's supposed to happen happened.
