Unquestionably, if religious bias were willingly removed from politics, finance, education and medicine, the world would improve dramatically. Decisions could be based on reason and logic as opposed to what a majority deemed morally or ethically correct. The problem is, people will not willingly give up religion any time in the foreseeable future, even though it's a practical guarantee that society would improve as a result.
Some people have pointed out that Atheistic cultures like the U.S.S.R. and Communist China did not fare well without religion, but those are extremely poor examples for two reasons:
1) The people in those countries did not CHOOSE atheism. In order for ANY ideology to work in congruence with a society, it has to be chosen willingly by the people. They had atheism forced upon them.
2) If religion is removed, something must replace it to provide people with a sense of social cohesiveness. However primitive and problematic, there is a human element to religion which DOES serve a useful purpose. It can't simply be eliminated without a suitable replacement. This was/is another problem with atheistic/communist regimes.
It should be noted that Chinese are free to practice Buddhism, which is technically not a religion, but which does provide a suitable substitute for much of what is beneficially found in religion. This is probably a main reason why communism has continued to survive there.
I think that the world will slowly evolve towards a universal humanistic philosophy which will displace 99.99% of that which religion provides. As science continues to unlock the mysteries of life, death and our origins, the need to assign supernatural causes will vanish, and people will embrace the importance of mortal life, other people, and the hear and now. This will be the long dreamed of "utopia" that so many have predicted mankind is capable of. It will be science, education and knowledge that ushers in this "new age" of mankind, not "god."

In developed countries things would stay the same because its the lobbyists, not the religious views of the politics, that influence their decissions. There would be no prosecution of any religion and no laws against the freedom of cult would be passed becaused it would trigger a violent reaction throughout the country. Let's not forget that Atheists are a minority
If anything, there would more concessions to stem-cell research programs and maybe more abortion clinics. Wheter that is a good thing or a bad one, it's up to you to decide

i can not say that an athiest has larger morals or extra appropriate judgment then a non secular individual, yet they have a tendency to make extra rational judgements (like exploring stemn cellular study for remedies to affliction truly then no longer because an embryo is killed), yet i wager an similar will be said about if Buddhists rant the international or if Muslims ran the international... if actually everyone agreed then there will be no conflicts, yet they don't. the problem notwithstanding, is that even notwithstanding we do not continually see issues an similar yet we imagine violence is a thanks to sparkling up issues at the same time as it isn't.

Ask the refugees who fled over the Berlin Wall, how great life in an atheist-run country was.
Ask the South Vietnamese and the Cambodians who survived the "re-education camps" how great it was.
Ask any Russian who was jailed, or who had their children taken away by the State, because they were religious believers, or differed with the State, politically, how great it was.
Ask any immigrant who fled the Soviet Union/China/North Korea/Cuba/Vietnam/Cambodia...ask THEM, NOT idiots on Yahoo!answers who don't know what the hell they're talking about.
How many people ever snuck INTO those atheist countries, anyway???

For one we'd probably not have the ozone problem now. There wouldn't be too many people anymore. Moral guidelines wouldn't be left up to someones book. Women in the middle east wouldn't have their rights destroyed and their bodies. Polarization wouldn't be so popular. Equality for gays and lesbians. No more Vatican and what ever they do in there.
Negatives. No holiday season. Christmas carols, Nightmare before Christmas. No "7 crazy nights".
But I would agree, "not too shabby."

With the Atheist countries that failed, it is because it was forced Atheism.
So anything forced either way, is bad.
--Gays could get married
--Under god, in god we trust, etc could be removed.
So public places will be neutal, so everyone can be comfortable.

Not too bad, democracy and a bit more tolerance I'd guess. Probably a heck of a lot more advances in the area of science. Especially those taboo to religious people.

Do you honestly have to ask that question?
History provides us with many, many examples of atheist-run societies. Look them up!
Wow! Look at some of the answers on here! No more wars, more tolerance, greater scientific advancement...
They have these things now called "History Books." Buy one!!!
There were several atheist-run regimes. Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea, etc. So far, they have collectively murdered over 100,000,000 people - that's 99,200,000 more people than the witch trials, heresy hunts and Crusades combined. Of all the atheist regimes ever formed on planet earth, every one, without exception, has perpetrated mass murders that are unprecedented in human history. In the Soviet Union, atheists murdered 20 million people over a ten-year period!
Anyone who wants to substantiate these facts can look them up in US Senate Committee reports, the Guiness Book of World Records, any credible history book, or a simple google search.

You know very little about history. Every atheist country without God has self-destructed. Read the Bible - God promises that it will happen. Religion and God are two different things. We have a Creator and He has moral absolutes.
