All J schools have summer intern programs to help stations fill in during summer holidays.

That was my old job, if you want a tip, send a demo tape with every application. No one reads more than the first paragraph of your resume, but a demo tape with two or three examples on it will be watched.

It doesn't have to be a real broadcast, just ones you did in the studio.

If you want to write the news, the send in some of your items you wrote for TV or Radio, again these need not to have been aired, but examples of your writing will do.

If you can find someone to do a mock interview, that should be included in your examples tape since broadcast news' biggest items are interviews..

The school I attended, although small, has a quality broadcast journalism program - Point Park University.
