A lady at my church told me her chihuahua had puppies and she said I could have one but she doesn't know how old they have to be to give them away so if y'all have any info I'll greatly appreciate it. I am very experienced with dogs I just know the age they should be to give away. Anyone know?

they should be at least 8-10 weeks old. when you get the puppy, don't let he/she go outside until they have gotten all of their shots. when looking to see which puppy to choose, pick the one that comes to you first, or seems to be the most behaved.

All my pups stay with their Mom for 6-8 weeks. I want to be sure they have had all of their deworming and had their 1st shots, and depending on if they are over 8 weeks old they need their next 2nd puppy shot. They should be able to drink water alone,,,they should be able to eat a "gruel" puppy food with water that has been warmed in micro and cooled. Continue each day to add more of the solid food with it so they will learn to chew,,, swallow,, and not throw it up. When your pups can do all of these things they are ready to go. Hope this helps

Puppies should not leave their mother and their siblings until they're about 6-8 weeks old. For breeds like chihuahuas should maybe be 9 weeks after they have been seen for all their shots...and are healthy. Good luck.

Most people will give away puppies at 6 weeks old. Most good breeders wont sell a pup until its 8 weeks old. This gives the pup to extra weeks to socialize with its siblings and allows the breeder to make sure the pupply is in good health.

A bare minimum of 8 weeks old. The smaller breeds of dogs do better to be left with their mother until about 10 to 12 weeks old.

I think it's about 12 weeks that they can be taking away from there mothers.

Chihuahuas should stay where they are accustomed until they are 12 weeks old. Larger breeds can go at 8 weeks but small toy breeds can become to shy and never get over it if they are moved to young, 12 weeks is recommend for Chis

8 weeks. The pups will usually be weaned from mom at 6 weeks, but they need the extra 2 weeks with their littermates to help the pups realize how to interact with other dogs. Many dogs who are removed before the 8 week period, are socially retarded and cannot interact well with other dogs as well as the dogs who were removed at 8 weeks.

Normally I would say 8-9 weeks and be eating and drinking good on their own.. But in cases where you have smaller pups I would say 12 weeks like our pommys.
