We live at Ft Campbell, and the list is pretty long. Without kids, you will get a 2 bedroom house. We were on a 2-bedroom list for a while, and gave up. They said it would be 4-6 months, and after about 5 months I called and there were still 69 people in front of us. The wait may be longer or shorter depending on your husband's rank. It may also change between now and June. Deployments wreak havoc on the waiting list, so depending on who is coming or going then, it could change drastically in either direction.

The problem is that they are tearing down a lot of the older houses to make room for brand new ones. It will be great when they finish, but until then most people live off-post.

Honestly, depending on your husband's BAH, you may be able to afford a bigger house off post. If we moved on-post, we'd be in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 900 square foot duplex, with maybe a carport to park in, and paying our full BAH for it. For about the same cost, we live off-post in a 3 bed/2 bath house with about 300 more square feet and a 2-car garage. There are benefits to living on-post, but you may want to look into living somewhere else, especially if the housing list is long.

it will depend on the bedroom entilement, his paygrade and the waiting list. I have seen people get into housing in a day, and I have seen lists be as long as 2 years.

f he has less than a year left to go at Campbell, he will not qualify for housing. he cannot get on the list until you are married, and you will be placed at the bottom of the list. so if there is a housing crunch, chances are you will NOTget housing. He will, howvere, qualify for BAH once you are married.

it depends. in beaufort sc back in 2000 it was 2 years. now it is 5 days. bah went up and everybody moved out of base housing. started renting places for cheap and pocketing the rest of the money. quite a few even bought homes!! we did.. and after owning our own place we will never never never never live in base housing again!!

There's no "typical" wait. You should know it depends on the base and varies by your rank and the size of your family. Call and ask...

Good luck.

It depends on the base, your rank and the turnover rate.

it will depend on the housing complex and his rate and rank. get him to see if he can get on the list before you are married i doubt it though
