The Bible does teach to confess your sins one to another that you may be healed(mentally, physically).
Ultimately however we must repent and confess sin to God to receive forgiveness.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We just need to confess our sins to God to be forgiven, however it's good to confess a sin to someone you may have sinned against at times.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us for our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 john 1:9
Our sins must be forgiven by God to be truly forgiven.

The only time you need to confess to another person is when you have done something to that particular person. If you confess your sin to God, he is faithful and just to forgive your sin and make you clean. In order to give your offering to God, and come with a clean concience, you need to reconcile with your brother. That means If you have done some wrong to a person, go and make it up to them. but don't go telling the whole church everything youv'e ever done! We don't want to know. That is between you and God. hope that helps.

you only have to confess your sins to God. It does say confess your "faults" one to another that you may be healed. But that is not the same thing as confessing sin to God and receiving forgiveness.

Confession regarding sin is between you and your Lord. This is sin that is working to separate you from His love.
Now, in James 5:16, when you have a body of believers praying for you regarding healing or trials, it says to "Confess Your Sins to One Another and Pray for One Another."
When you have a body of believers that loves and cares for you, and you trust them in fellowship. Then yes, you can use this time to confess how you have fallen short in order for them to convey God's love and forgiveness. It is not necessary, of course, but it is also not discouraged in scripture.

God is the only one that can forgive sin. However, if you find yourself in an uphill battle to overcome a certain sin, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have e few of your brethren pray for you while you pray and fast to break the sins grip on you. God Bless you. I hope that this clears this up. Love you.

I think only the catholics do that. Some times when things get tough though we turn to support groups or maybe a pastor for some help. But, When we pray we pray to Jesus and the Father. Jesus intervenes on our behalf talking to the Father. He knows best how to talk to Him and what to say. That's one reason that the cross was symbolic in that Christ was lifted up between heaven and earth as a mediator for those on earth.

You sin against God, so, confess your sin to Him. There is no need for you to confess your sin to anyone else.
