I've known this girl since 9th grade. I'm currently in eleventh . This girl, she's not your typical....girl I guess just to put it simply. She has never been in a relationship (or at least, not since I've known her) and is very eclectic. We've always been friends, but over the last year or so we've become...best friends. She's one of my most trusted cronies. I've had feelings for her DEFINITELY since august of this year, however there were flutters of that stuff during April, before summer break.

I've always killed my emotions for her because frankly, I'm an unattractive guy and she's too damn perfect for me. This was fine I guess, but then one of her friends came to the topic of the fact that this girl actually likes me. This was before a weekend field trip, where me and this girl hung out a lot. When I asked her other best friend, she said that this girl and I "could date in a few years" saying she's too scared of a relationship. Help! How do I Know when it's right?Any obvious signs?

I for myself don't know how to read the signs in girls. I find myself relying on the -throw-myself-at-their-mercy - approach. That is to say you just have to come out with it at some stage and it's a make-or-break sort of deal. Steel yourself for rejection of one sort or another but if the girl is so important to you - go for it. Ask her out.

Talk to her about it. Tell her that you are interested in her and like her more than just a friend. Make sure that you tell her that you do not want to pressure her into a relationship and are willing to wait for while if she feels the same. At least you guys will be on the same page. Beware of dating your best friend though and make sure you know what your risking<-personal experience.
