First of all how old is the cat?? If it is only a couple years old you may still be able to train it. First, put the cat in the box every few hours or so. If you catch the cat urinating anywhere else besides the box simply discipline him by sternly saying no, giving a little tap on the bottom and putting him in the box. After a bit the kitty should get the idea. Worse comes to worse after a couple months if it doesn't seem to work you may just have to let it out. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!

Was the cat used to going outside before? Then the best way to litter box train her is to put some potting soil in the litter box initially, instead of litter. Then slowly make it more and more litter and less and less soil. You will have to dump the box a lot at first, but hey, potting soil is cheap, and it's only for a week or so.
You can also try using Cat Attract litter. It's a special retraining litter that has additives that make it smell (to the cat only9 like "the place to go". I know many people who had good success with it.
Another trick is, if she goes outside the box, to wipe it up with some tissue and put that tissue in the box, to give her the idea that that's where it belongs.
It would be best to have two boxes, since many cats don't like to urinate and defecate in the same spot.
Good luck! :)

You can put the cat in the litter box. Holding his front paws make the motions of digging. You may have to do this more than once but your cat will understand. Also, you can try putting the cat in a small room with just the box. Since cats are very tidy they won't want to go anywhere else except for the litter box. Hope this helps.

I can see your problem. What I did for my cat was when It "went" on the floor, I took the cat to the litter box and made it idg in the box. If it did a bit more then just a "little something" then Itook the "preasent" to the litter box and made the cat burry it so that he/she would understand that that is where it belongs. I know it may take some time but I hope I could help.

cats are SO smart. They naturally want to go where they can bury their waste. put the litter box in a place she can get to, semi-private, pick her up, and put her in it. After that, she will know where it is, but she may not get the connection, so if she goes poop in the house other than in the cat box pick it up and put the poop in the box. They';re not like dogs at all, all you have to do with cats is show them where they have to go and they will. This method has worked for me with many adult cats AND kittens. good luck!

Keep putting her in the box, almost constantly. When she makes a mistake, pick her up immediately and put her in the box. If she poos, put her poo in the box and let her know it is there. She will get the idea. It is instinctual for them to cover their waste and the litter will provide that for her.

I had one once that was a year and a month, and all I had to do was set him in it, and he got the idea.
