One day in the Vatican. Get on line for the Vatican museum before it opens at 10. Take the short tour so you get to the Sistine chapel before it has a million people in it. Even on the short tour you wll be overwhelmed with increadible works of art. Then into St Peter's Basilica. Make sure to go up to the top of the dome.
Spend the evening at the Spanish steps, eating fresh roasted chestnuts and strolling in your best clothes with all the other folks along all the fashionable shops.
One day in the Forum and Collesseum. Take a tour or buy a good guide book specifically on the Forum. It is vast and hard to visualize what it once was without some guidance. The Church of St Peter in Vinculo is around the corner from teh Colleseum - it is where Michelangelo's Moses is located - don't miss it.
Have a great full course dinner somwhere.
One day on a walking tour of central rome, from the Pantheon, to the Piazza Colonna, The Trevi Fountain, Sant Andrea al Quirinale (a beautiful Baroque Church) and the The Piazza del Popolo and any little church or museum that looks interesting along the way.
Buon viaggio!

Hi Glenn,
I was fortunate enough to visit Rome this past October. I only had two days. It was not nearly enough. Since you have three, then you will want to see the Collosseum. Spend enough time there so you can really wander around and image all that took place. You will want to walk through the Forum for the same reason. There are quite a few structures left there. Trevi Fountain is way too crowded and not that great. Ponti Vecchio is an interesting shopping area, but not cheap. If you are interested in the Vatican, then plan on spending time there. You will see the Sistene Chapel and there are many beautiful paintings and sculptures in the Vatican Museums. St. Peter's Basilica is in Vatican City and very beautiful. Don't bother ordering pizza in Rome, no matter what people say. No good.
