1 Timothy 2
11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

Saint Paul 1 Corinthians 14
As in all the congregations of the saints, 34women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

Saint Paul Ephesians 5
22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Saint Paul 1 Corinthians 11
3Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. 6If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 7A man ought not to cover his head,[b] since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.

The word of God is pure and Holy.I believe every line, word, verse.
My husband is the head,I am his heart.
Wisdom and knowledge is a must ,when reading the Bible. The Holy Ghost is the only Teacher, qualified to teach the word. Each person has a responsibility to read and know the word of God.If you are not a Christian ,you will never understand the fullness of the gospel.
But praise God you are reading the Bible.I pray you get with it understanding,to salvation.God be with you.

If you were truly a student of the Bible, you would know the intent and meaning of these verses from a study of the original Greek and Aramaic texts. It is obvious that you neither know Jesus nor have any idea what these verses are talking about. It would be a waste of time to enlighten you.

These scriptures were written to specific churches in the form of letters. These particular churches had a problem with pagan forms of worship such as vestal virgins and priestesses of firtility. These women were quite common in that day and men were accustomed to paying for "services" and prayers to the gods and goddesses is question. In order to differentiate the Christian churches from that kind of worship, Paul wrote these guidelines for them specifically. This was more in keeping with the Judaic beliefs where women were separated from the men and kept silent. As for the "submission" reference, I, for one feel that my husband is the head of my household and even though he is the King, I am the queen. He treats me as such and we always are a team when making desicions. Never have had a problem with that. works great. I know I probably gave you more info that you wanted, but it is logical.

If you're so proud to be an atheist, why are you spending so much time on religion? Seems kinda stupid.

Anyway, if you notice, these scriptures say "I", not God. I follow God, not Timothy or Paul. One reason for their attitudes was Jewish attitudes towards woman at that time, and all of these guys were good Jews. Also, women of that time weren't allowed to learn Hebrew, which the Torah was written in, and all Jewish services were conducted in Hebrew, so many times the women would talk among themselves, since it was pretty boring not knowing what was being said. Obviously, they wouldn't be expected to teach religion since they couldn't read any of it.
Luckily for us women, Jesus never said those things, nor acted that way. He spent time teaching women, so apparently, we aren't as useless as the apostles thought we were.

Let's go ahead and squash this now. As a woman, I have no problem with the concept of submitting to my husband. There is nothing wrong with it. Submitting to your husband does not mean that you are his slave. Men are so quick to point out these verses without emphasizing the entire text. what about these...

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, (Ephesians 5:25)

So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. (Ephesians 5:28)

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them
(Colossians 3:19)

You are taking scripture out of context... many of these words in the Greek language mean different things... you need to do a little more research before drawing these conclusions, and at least Eve was DECEIVED, Adam KNEW what he was doing...

Don't just "COPY AND PASTE" scripture- you should try studing it sometime.

Again, these are Jewish laws. When Christ came to help Israel, and once his time on earth was almost finished, he told his diciples to go out to the masses and spread the word of God.

Christians and Jews fought in the early days about what laws the Christins (Gentile) would have to follow. Jesus said all who believe in me will have everlasting life.

SOOOO, since we are not Jewish, we DO NOT have to follow the old Jewish Laws.

Read the whole Bible, then come back and talk to us "Christians".

No, I don't.

People have problems with the bible, here is mine: if the Bible is the inspired word of God (and I do believe it is), why does it contain the personal letters of a human man written to specific human communities about specific issues? Scholars pretty much all agree that Paul wasn't fond of women. Heck, much of the culture of that time put women in a far second to men.

So, what's your point in asking the question? To point out an inconsistancy or "unfairness" in the Bible? Guess what - already been done.
