Find out anything you need to know about federal taxes at http://www.irs.gov
State taxes will closely follow federal taxes, but you can find out for sure at your state treasurer's website. There might be a link on the IRS website to individual States.

Go to the Michigan state governments website (there will probably be a page regarding tax info) and download the explanation form that accompanies whatever the MI state equivalent of a 1040 form is. The number should be in the booklet.

Check your 1040 book, it should say. Also figure it out how much you'll get back. I didn't have to file last year, but I did and got over $1100 back!
