How is it that so many people on this particular category get away with such dangerous stupidity, unchecked? Why would you be answering on a mental health question when you're obviously clueless and are toying with peoples lives? Do you people honestly think there's an "easy" fix for depression by "just getting over it", "just getting out there"? That it's ok to not take teens seriously and call it angst instead of depression just because they're not complete hermits yet? That "something" has to have "happened" in their lives recently to cause it, otherwise they're making it up? Do you ever stop to think of the impact this could have on someone reaching out with a VERY serious, dangerous condition and nowhere to turn?

Hope it's worth the 2 damned points.

I AM getting professional help for my depression. Hence why I know a little something about it. How very perceptive of you though. And isn't it interesting how a depressed teen gets 33 answers within 3 minutes of posting her question, all telling her what to do (badly), and yet no one has the courage to answer someone who DOES know what the hell they're talking about?

Because this is an *internet* forum and that makes the people using it rather anonymous except by reputation of their answers and since we're never going to meet in real life it's easy to say something stupid without anyone coming back and making you take responsibility for the things you said. Welcome to the internet, it's growing larger, and more and more people with opinionated minds that have been sculpted for years to behave a certain way are joining it. They've always been here honestly, it's just easier to say what they think using a forum like this, and feel they are anonymously in the right, regardless of the consequences. If you've ever worked technical support for a computer company, or internet company, or retail, you learn quickly, that people check their brains at the hard drive or door and come in completely stupid poking at whatever they can, and saying whatever they want not having a clue that putting caps up doesn't mean someone will read your message first, it just means your screaming at me. But since there's no *rulebook* that comes with their modem and internet accounts about the internet, they hop on driving slow in the fast lane and making bad lane changes. There's bound to be wrecks galore. Don't forget the people that simply lack the skills to obtain common sense. As the comic Ron White once said, "You can't fix stupid".

Do not listen to ignorant people who have no idea what its like to deal with depression. There are many facts that too many teenagers commit suicide because nobody realized the depression. It is a very dangerous condition and most of the time its only temporary and therefore people need to go on pills to help them over that period in their lives. Its an brain imbalance and an illness like any other illness.

Why would anyone ask a question about any type of health issue here anyway? Do you expect to get a wonderful answer. If you are screwed up go to a doctor and stop your b!tching here. Coming from someone with the screen name "prozacfairy's" it sound like you could use all the professional help you can get. XOXO Trista.

I would be more worried about the people who are asking for advice from someone on yahoo answers (or any message board for that fact) instead of a licensed professional.

chillout sweety.. yeah i agree, but its better than not talking about it and not getting some help, any help. most of these folks give good advice and yeah its not like they went to college for it, but it think that most people can and do read between the lines. its like a neiborhood bar full of people..... rum and coke please
