My female cat who is 2 started meowing really loud late at night. Funny thing is that she is fixed. We just moved to this house about a month ago. But she is fine during the days with no meowing problems. Before we moved here, we lived with my Mom for a month with no problems. HELP!

Well it all depends on where and what kinda of cat she is, Or what kind of meow it is, I doubt she would have separation anxiety because a month isn't very long. If shes in the dark that could be the problem, Or she could just think you might leave, My cat did that for a long time until I started putting her in the laundry room then ten minutes later going in and petting her. My other cat has nerve problems, I think, She meows alot too but anyway I hope some of that was some help to ya!

Is she also showing the signs of heat? Arching her back? How long ago was she spayed? Very rarely when a cat is spayed sometimes a piece of her uterus may have got left behind and they can go into heat again, but thats only if she is showing other signs. I do have a cat that also meows very loudly at night, but hers is because shes so noctural: she sleeps all day and plays all night.

Maybe she misses your mom. Can you ask her to visit from time to time? My cat does the meowing at night--all hes doing is trying to get my affection, but he doesn't know where I am, so I go to where he is and pet him, then he's OK.

Cats are funny - no two ways about it.

My one cat, Dark, often meows loud late at night, but my wife and I think it's because she's not all that bright, and she can't find us. Like she's worried that we've left. We usually just go out and pet her a little and she's fine.

She might miss your mother - cats are people too!

Did your mom have another cat in the house? She is obviously looking for someone ot something... I would suggest getting a buddy for your cat (cats are better in pairs and yes I have 2 of my own)

Cats miss people and/or other pets when they are separated. Perhaps she misses your mom or one of your mom's pets?
