NO !!!! The majority of people in the UK do not want to change. However the European Union will insist that the UK adopt the kilometre. It will soon be a criminal offence to use the mile. These unelected officials in Europe are helping to destroy the UK.
We want to get out of Europe but the three main political parties are all in favour of being subservient to their European masters. Oh my god !!! We fought two world wars to stop this sort of nonsense. However there is hope on the horizon. The British National Party . Vote BNP at the next local and general election.

In Ireland we changed to Kilometres last Year, and all New cars have to have KPH on the Clocks, all the Signs are in Kilometres, save the old Mile Stones that are Ancient and these are left as Historic Monuments you see the odd one along the Road. There does not seem to be any Problem ,People are used to them now. When Motorists go to Nth of Ireland in Six Counties they use Miles per hour as in British Mainland , They dont have a Problem with either Miles or Kilometres. We are Officially Metric though still use Pounds and Ounces sometimes but mostly Kilos. It has been Suggested that we should adopt driving on the Right ,but the Authorities are not so sure it is a good Idea because of cost of changing things around , and Proximity of Britain with People Travelling there so much. But this probably will Change in time. We consider ourselves part of Europe now it has worked for us . We think differently then Britain we like the Idea of Europe. There is an Affinity a closeness that Britain does not seem to have.

No, what advantage would there be? Some would think that the maximum speed limit had been increased and act accordingly, imagine people driving at 50 mph in a 30 zone, 65 mph in a 40 zone, 100 mph on all other roads and up to 115 mph on the motorway. No I don't think so.

yes, the metric system is miles (or should it be kilometers?!) better than the imperial one. Divisions of 10 are so much easier to work with...
