my best friends boyfriend told me in secret that he has to break up with her. but i promised i wouldnt tell anyone... should i tell my best friend... or keep the promise to her boyfriend....

I would be loyal to your best friend, because she is your best friend and if her boy friend needs to break up with her for any reason then he needs to be the one to do it not you. So let him be the one to give her the news and then if she finds out that you knew about it, just tell her he came to you and told you and asked you not to tell and you promised not to. So he could talk it over with you and work things over, not to hurt you. You didn't want to be the one to break her heart by giving her the bad news in-case something came up and things changed and he didn't have to break up with you after all, you were hoping for the best.

You made a promise to the BF and if your friend is mad, tell her that you were in an unfair position of being stuck in the middle. It seems like you're pretty good friends with the BF if he trusts you enough to tell you the secret. On one hand there's someone you never keep secrets from and the other a secret that is promised to be kept. Pretty hard when the latter concerns the former.

Stay out of it. It's up to him to tell her. You tell her and she'll hate you for it. What if he denies it? What if he just wants you to do his dirty work?
You could ask her how they are doing together. She's got to be seeing the signs... Maybe with a little insight she'll see that there is an issue and confront him.
If he says he told you about it, your freind may be upset with you at first, but with reason (and time) she will see why you didn't come right out and tell her.

I would be loyal to your friend's boyfriend, you don't want him angry at you. Let him do what he has to do because at one point he will have to break up with your friend.

hmmm, i think maybe your friends boyfriend shouldn't have put you in this position.
Just let him do it, give him a time limit to do it in. And if your best friend finds out you knew, just say, its between you two and i wanted him to speak to you first before butting in!

to keep loyalty to both just act like you forgot all about it and if you pick the best of both make sure your not losing anybody
