I believe that when something is labeled hypoallergenic, meaning cosmetics, etc., that they have filtered out the ingredients that tend to cause the most allergies, and that they are using ingredients that have been proven to be the most mild - or least likely to cause an allergic reaction. However, I don't believe that guarantees that someone still won't have a reaction to something in that product. The best rule of thumb is, if you think you are allergic to any product or item, don't use it anymore. Try another hypoallergenic product. (If you are super sensitive, try patch testing your skin with a dab of product to see if you get a reaction first.)

Hello, Yes you can be allergic to hypoallergenic stuff. I bought some plastic kid "hypoallergenic" earrings ( my ears are very sensitive) and my ears turned red and they got infected despite being cleaned with alcohol before putting them in. I never bought anything "hypoallergenic" again.

I think you can because I use a hypoallergenic face wash and it looks like my skin is only getting worse. Ask a dermatologist.
