Pet stores and vets usually carry a product called nutri-cal. It is a vitamin like paste that will help increase the appetite that can be given several times a day. Have you discovered what flavor of meat the pup prefers? Beef, Chicken or Lamb? Go to the grocery store and buy a small cans of each and mix it with the hard food. My dogs prefer ProPac puppy. It is a small kibble -- chicken based. Also check with your vet, but most dogs can have hard boiled eggs. Boil some up and put half of one on top of the dry food. Dry food is important for teeth health so at the very least mix 1/2 dry to 1/2 wet (canned). As always, in trying to solve an eating disorder with animals, keep close contact with your vet. Make sure your pup is drinking plenty of water. If he is not, ask your vet about pedialite (unflavored)-- the kind for kids-- If the pups electrolytes are out of wack--he won't eat, but this may help him get back on track. Good luck!

With the cute little toys, I often have to spoil them to get them to eat. One thing you should know is that dog food is really made for human convenience it is not better for dogs than human food. Adding nutrients so you know your dog is getting what he needs is a good idea though. If your dog isn't eating and he is a tiny Yorkie you don't want him to develop low blood sugar so feeding him something IS important. How about some chicken ground up if you like? In a pinch when I am rushed I also find they like canned Mighty Dog although there are some better canned foods. Also you can get some powdered vitamins and make little balls with the powder inside. When you want tiny you have to feed those tiny mouths.

try wet pouches.. smoosh it, and feed a teeny bit to him on a small paper plate (or a small flat plate). have him lick your finger first (a finger that you stuck in the food). my dog only eats nutro pouched food. she likes the lamb, beef, and the chicken and cheese puppy food. also, try mixing his dry with wet so it's more appetizing, or even just crushing the dry. it doesnt say if you give him wet or dry but im assuming you give him dry. my dog never eats dry either. you can also try irish stew from dick van patten's eatables. whatever you do, mash the food because yorkies are teeny. put it down for about 30 minutes, and then take it away and put it in the fridge. put it in the same place each time, and call your dog to come eat. do this 3-4 times a day. he'll eat when he's hungry. if he's pooping and peeing then he's fine. dont stress too much, some dogs like mine are just picky eaters.

Yorkies are very picky, You might have to mix a little soft food in with his hard crunchies, Not alot just enough to cover the hard. Is he listless
and is he drinking ok? Because if he is not he will get sick really fast there blood sugar can
drop very quick. If he seems to have these symptoms you might try putting a little sugar in his water and that should help him.
Good luck.

If your dog is losing weight, it could be a health issue such as worms.
If it persists, take your pup to the vet, but always know how much food your dog is eating. Never leave food bowls down, just for this reason.

have you tried any of the canned, soft foods? When my dog was a puppy she used to hate the dry dog food so we mixed it with the canned food. That is what the breeder originally told us to do in the beginning.
